Our client is a global renewable energy development and investment platform, focused on investing in and developing a wide range of utility scale solar PV, onshore wind and storage assets, who are looking to hire a Junior Development Engineer to support the development of their projects. In this role, you will be assisting in project coordination, site assessments, permitting, project pipeline tracking and technical analysis, and would be an ideal role for an ambitious individual who wants the opportunity to build on their development and engineering skills within the energy sector.
THE ROLE
- Assist in managing project schedules, timelines, and deliverables to meet project milestones.
- Support preparing project documentation, RFP, reports, and presentations.
- Coordinate internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate project progress.
- Conduct preliminary site assessments, including desktop reviews and field visits of potential development portfolios or JDA opportunities
- Analyse site conditions, including topography, access, and environmental constraints.
- Support energy resource assessments by gathering and analysing meteorological or solar data.
- Assist in obtaining necessary permits and approvals at the local, state, and federal levels.
- Research regulatory and environmental requirements for projects.
- Coordinate with permitting agencies and consultants to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
- Support community outreach initiatives, including organising public meetings and addressing stakeholder concerns with the development managers
- Assist in maintaining relationships with landowners, regulatory bodies, and community representatives.
- Work with engineering teams to review technical designs, layouts, and interconnection plans.
- Assist in developing preliminary project designs using tools like AutoCAD or GIS software.
- Conducted basic technical analyses and provided support for energy modelling and project optimisation.
- Manage project data, including site information, permitting statuses, and project costs.
- Compile regular reports to update senior management on project progress.
THE CANDIDATE
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Electrical, Environmental, or related), Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in renewable energy, infrastructure development, or a related industry.
- Familiarity with renewable energy technologies (solar, Onshore wind, BESS) is preferred.
- Basic understanding of permitting, environmental assessments, or technical design.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with GIS tools, AutoCAD, or similar software is a plus.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
