The Role
This position offers the opportunity to design lightweight PV systems from concept to construction while supporting the sales team with technical expertise. The successful candidate will engage in all aspects of solar PV design, from creating AC/DC electrical systems to feasibility studies and yield modelling.
This dynamic role also includes developing innovative design concepts, staying ahead of industry trends, and enhancing existing processes. With a blend of technical, creative, and client-facing responsibilities, no two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Excellence: Craft AC/DC electrical system designs for commercial PV installations.
- Innovation: Develop and optimise design concepts for seamless integration into existing electrical infrastructures.
- Documentation: Produce detailed technical drawings and project documentation.
- On-Site Expertise: Conduct feasibility studies and pre-construction assessments through site surveys.
- Research & Development: Stay ahead of industry trends, drive product development, and improve processes.
- Client Support: Provide technical insights to support the sales team during client meetings.
The Ideal Candidate
Essential:
- At least 3 years’ experience in electrical system design for the commercial sector.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent design software.
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical details to non-technical audiences.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and ability to work under pressure.
Desirable:
- Experience in the solar PV sector, including DC electrical design.
- Familiarity with energy yield modelling tools like PVSyst or PVSol.
- Knowledge of battery storage systems and CDM regulations.
- Health and safety qualifications.
