The Company:
Green Cat Hydrogen Limited (GCH) is a dynamic and innovative green hydrogen project developer. GCH focus on the deployment of electrolytic hydrogen projects as a key part of the global energy transition and de-carbonisation strategy. The business works closely with sister companies through the planning, permitting/licensing, engineering and design and construction of green hydrogen projects.
We are seeking a motivated and talented Junior Project Engineer with an engineering background to support the successfully delivery of numerous green hydrogen projects and work throughout the entire project lifecycle. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, gaining valuable experience in the hydrogen and/or renewable energy sector while supporting our experienced project engineers.
The Role:
- Support the multi-discipline design development (covering chemical, mechanical, electrical, civil, instrumentation, control and automation disciplines) and successful delivery of green hydrogen projects.
- Assist in the preparation of key project documentation (e.g. equipment specifications, technical drawings, stage gate reports).
- Participate in project meetings and complete assigned follow-up actions in a timely manner.
- Work closely with the internal GCH team to ensure that other departments can effectively support projects.
- Co-ordinate and manage external resources and activities (e.g. site surveys).
- Assist in the development of project cost estimates.
- Assist in the development of project schedules.
- Engage and liaise with equipment suppliers and offtakers.
- Undertake project procurement activities including issuing of request for information/request for quotation forms and supporting formal tendering processes.
- Support commissioning of newly installed equipment and plant.
- Ensure all project activities comply with all relevant health, safety and environmental standards
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay current with industry trends and technologies.
The Candidate must have:
- A degree in engineering (e.g. chemical, mechanical, electrical) or a related field.
- A strong academic record demonstrating technical proficiency and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using engineering software tools (e.g. AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to travel to site as necessary, supported by a valid UK driving license.
- Legal right to work full-time in the United Kingdom, in perpetuity.
The Candidate would benefit from:
- Relevant work experience in an engineering or project role (up to 2 years).
- Knowledge or experience with renewable energy technologies and/or project management tools and processes (e.g. PRINCE2, APM or PMI).
- Familiarity with industry-specific standards and regulatory requirements.
- Active membership in recognised engineering institutions or societies.
