The Strategic Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project plans to ensure project processes, activities, milestones and completion targets are realized and successful project delivery is achieved. You will collaborate closely with the Planning and Development team on all projects in the feasibility, planning, and design stages of sector projects. You will support the Director of Planning and Development in strategically coordinating and reporting across operational divisions including finance, business management, human resources, procurement, and marketing and communications as well as the sector’s different businesses. You will implement project management best practices to achieve project objectives.
REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY
The Strategic Planning Engineer SMP responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Integrated within the Assets and Project teams to define, align, and achieve deliverables.
- Provide direction, coordination and reporting for the sector’s stakeholders with respect to the implementation of project planning and schedule, progress measurement plans and procedures.
- Create, maintain, review and administer project schedules and plans.
- Create, maintain, review and administer project risk tracking and reporting.
- Consider the sector’s strategic objectives, business case, NEOM requirements and procedures, stakeholder input and project constraints and opportunities in developing, maintain, and monitoring project planning.
- Supervise and maintain short term, baseline, life-cycle, and strategic planning activities for projects and input into business cases and long term strategic planning for the sector.
- Participate and organize weekly and monthly project progress meetings. Lead the reporting of project planning including the tracking of schedules, financials, and risk associated with projects.
- Participate in reviewing NEOM regional development, sector, consultant and other stakeholder reports/presentations and providing feedback and guidance.
- Participate in providing independent evaluation/recommendations of Consultant/Contractor Baseline Schedules
- Prepare presentations and dashboards and reports related to project plans as well as support and coordinate with other stakeholders in inclusion of planning information into department and sector presentations and reports.
- Serve as the primary reviewer of risk analysis reports
- Coordinating operational plans for assets with stakeholders.
- Work closely with the strategy and financial planning team to provide updates on key project metrics and assumptions
- Assist in the preparation of project budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor project plans, budgets, and risks during the project execution stage
- Highlight risks, delayed activities and prepare lookahead schedules.
- Maintain a central repository for project benchmarking data, project budgets, design and construction costs and other project related data.
- Support the Director of Planning and Development in the development of annual budgets and implementation plans for projects.
- Build the practices, processes, and tools for reporting and coordination (i.e. reports, dashboards, trackers, presentations, databases, etc.)
- Evaluating project processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing solutions.
- Liaising with internal team and maintaining strong relations with project teams and other stakeholders.
