The Design Architect Associate will provide design development from project inception to completion. This role involves architectural design development, design processes, ensuring quality and compliance, and coordinating with various stakeholders to deliver projects successfully. The design remit will range from master plans to individual building assets.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Concept Design Preparation
- Develop the initial concept design for various projects, ensuring alignment with overall project goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with design teams to prepare and refine concept designs, incorporating feedback from stakeholders.
- Ensure project completion within specified timelines and budgets, presenting accurate estimates to management.
Detailed Design Development
- Produce and supervise the development of detailed architectural design packages, including specifications and construction-related details.
- Ensure design packages meet project requirements and align with industry codes, standards, and best practices.
- Supervise the production of detailed architectural design documents and drawings.
Design Leadership
- Lead and assist in the selection of design consultant teams, including outreach, RFPs, contract execution, and administration.
- Manage internal collaborative design reviews.
- Collaborate with design, development, and construction teams on design strategy, schedules, budgets, and execution.
- Provide innovative architectural design options to reduce costs and improve internal efficiency.
Quality and Compliance
- Ensure high standards of quality, reliability, and safety in project designs.
- Implement and maintain procedures for design development, change control, and progress monitoring.
- Evaluate and implement techniques for controlling design quality and safety.
Coordination and Integration
- Review and integrate design programs from architects and other consultants into the overall design development program.
- Ensure alignment of design deliverables with the approved business plan.
- Interface with internal and external teams to achieve project specifications from completion to handover.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of strategic objectives related to Asset Design Management.
Performance Monitoring
- Monitor and report on the performance of the architectural design process.
- Implement initiatives for improving architectural product designs.
- Ensure procedures are in place to maintain effective progress monitoring.
Technical Support
- Coordinate with NEOM execution teams and contractors to ensure construction meets design requirements and specifications.
- Conduct space feasibility and utilization studies, preparing reports on findings.
- Oversee the approval of materials, furniture, and other design elements.
- Visit project sites to provide technical support and resolve any compliance concerns.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- 5 to 10 years of total experience, with a minimum of 3 years specifically in Saudi Arabia (KSA).
- Current role and previous experience preferably in a leading architectural design practice, demonstrating design capability across residential and commercial asset types.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D modeling (3dsMax or Revit).
- Excellent knowledge of Saudi Building Codes & Standards.
- Proven success in teamwork and independent project assignments.
- Ability to work with diverse and cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional design aesthetic across a range of mixed-use developments, including offices, residential, and support buildings.
- Strong project management skills, including organization, time management, resourcefulness, and flexibility.
- Proven success working across design disciplines with architects, engineers, and designers.
- Leadership skills to set clear goals, motivate teams, and produce superior results under challenging schedules.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Design.
- Professional qualification such as RIBA, AIA, or similar.
