As a Senior Data Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in analysing complex data sets, building high-quality visualisations, and ensuring data integrity and governance across our platforms. You will work on Databricks and use Power BI or Tableau for developing comprehensive dashboards and reports. Strong SQL expertise is required, and Python skills are desired but not essential. This role requires a keen eye for data quality, the ability to perform advanced analytics, and a solid understanding of data governance.
Roles & Responsibilities
The Senior Data Analyst has a broad remit encompassing – but not limited to – the work areas below:
- Develop, maintain, and optimise complex data models and visualisations in Power BI or Tableau.
- Utilise Databricks to extract, transform, and analyse large data sets efficiently.
- Write, optimise, and maintain SQL queries to support data analysis and reporting needs.
- Perform data profiling, validation, and quality checks to ensure accuracy and reliability of data.
- Implement data governance best practices to maintain the integrity and security of data assets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design dashboards, and present findings that drive business decisions.
- Conduct advanced analytics to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that support strategic objectives.
- Communicating findings and recommendations to internal and external senior management through visualisations and presentations.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify business challenges, develop solutions, and provide insights
- Document and maintain processes, data dictionaries, and governance standards.
- Assist in training and mentoring other team members and stakeholders on data best practices.
- Stay updated with the latest data analysis and visualisation trends and tools.
- Adhering to all Information Security policies and best practices, including security awareness training and other information protection initiatives
- Maintain compliance with GDPR and other local data protection legislation
Core competencies
The successful candidate for this job will be enthusiastic about the responsibilities above, and will have a skillset which complements the job well, including :
- Proficiency in Databricks and expertise with Power BI or Tableau for building dashboards and reports.
- Strong SQL skills, including complex query writing and optimisation.
- Familiarity with PySpark/ Python for data manipulation and analysis is a plus.
- Solid understanding of data quality principles and data governance frameworks.
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and communicate insights clearly.
- Experience with data pipeline processes and working in cloud environments (e.g., Azure, AWS, or GCP) is advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience navigating data protection and privacy regulations in Europe (GDPR)
- Experience handling sensitive data (e.g. PII) and deploying solutions to maintain data privacy and security
- Strong communication skills and ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Familiar with agile project management
Required skills & experience
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of [3+] years of experience in data analysis and reporting, preferably in a senior role.
- Fluent in English (both written and spoken)
- Experience in the (re)insurance industry is preferred but not required.
