We are seeking a Product Manager to drive the development and commercialization of our customer’s innovative hydrogen technology, as they progress from proof-of-concept to pilot-scale demonstrations.
This role requires a blend of technical understanding, market insight, and strategic execution to align technology development with business objectives.
You will work closely with R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams to ensure our client’s product meets their customer and industry needs.
Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer and working across all areas of the business.
Accountabilities (include)
- Lead customer discovery efforts to validate key partner pain points and align technology development, translating findings into clear product requirements.
- Model product economics to define cost boundaries, prioritise key product metrics (efficiency, LCOH, CapEx, stack lifetime), and support commercial decision-making.
- Be the technology team’s north star for requirements, whilst being their voice in the market. You’ll bridge development and the market to help define the ideal route to market.
- Develop and deliver viable product roadmaps to serve key partners, working with the technology team in design decisions and structuring validation with partners.
- Identify key partners and establish and maintain relationships with key partners within the hydrogen industry.
- Be wholly aware of market movements, customer needs, competitors, regulatory trends, and technical constraints, using this knowledge to shape our customer’s route to market.
- Own the holistic product cost model, working with the wider business to hone assumptions and projections to support product deployment.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, supply chain, technical and operations teams to assess scalability and cost drivers.
- Support in the development of go-to-market strategies, pricing strategies, and ROI analysis to support investment decisions.
- Shape and communicate the product vision. Work directly with the CPO to develop the vision and guide all stakeholders on the path to success.
- Develop proposals and business cases for pilot projects and demonstrations with key partners, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives.
- Work with internal and external technical and marketing teams to define and communicate clear goals and objectives and managing expectations of all stakeholders in-life
- Support grant applications, investor pitches, and business cases by providing technical and market insights.
About you
Ideally, you will:
- Have a technical background (e.g., Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering or other related field).
- Enjoy complex problems, be solution driven and drive projects forward.
- Have experience in hardware product development and pilot project execution within clean tech, energy, or industrial sectors with familiarity of TRL 4-7 challenges.
- Have experience securing and managing strategic partnerships with industrial or energy companies.
- Be well versed in translating customer/partner insights into product development roadmaps and customer value propositions.
- Be able to identify market opportunities, understand commercial drivers, analyse techno-economic trade-offs and demonstrate commercial feasibility.
- Understand market drivers, customer needs, and regulatory frameworks in hardware technology sales or licensing in the energy and chemicals sector.
- Demonstrate a strong capacity to build and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams of many different disciplines at all levels both internally and externally.
- Behave with a sense of urgency in delivery, being cognisant of company goals, budgets and deadlines and managing scope, time and budget to achieve them.
Desirable
- Experience in hydrogen, fuel cells, electrolysis, batteries, or other clean energy technologies.
- Familiarity with electrolyser, hydrogen production, or industrial gas systems.
- Have experience in cost modelling of manufacturing to determine cost of goods sold.
- Have experience in project cost modelling for hydrogen production taking into account customer inputs and project assumptions.
- Familiarity with grant funding processes and investor relations in clean tech.
Working Arrangement
We’re operating a hybrid work model where the role permits. Our customer’s labs and offices are in West London, for this role we are offering the flexibility of 2 to 3 days a week working from home. Role will require business travel both domestic and abroad.
