About the Role
A leading investment bank is seeking an Energy Transition Associate to support its advisory and financing activities within the energy transition sector. The role will focus on renewable energy, clean technology, energy infrastructure, and decarbonization strategies, working with corporate clients, financial sponsors, and institutional investors. The successful candidate will be involved in M&A, capital raising, and strategic advisory transactions, contributing to the bank’s commitment to sustainability and the global energy shift.
Key Responsibilities
Transaction Execution & Financial Analysis
- Support M&A, debt, and equity transactions in the energy transition sector, including renewables, hydrogen, energy storage, and carbon capture.
- Develop and maintain financial models for valuation, project finance, and capital structure optimization.
- Prepare pitch books, investment memoranda, and transaction documents for internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct market research and industry analysis to assess trends, risks, and opportunities in the energy transition space.
Client Engagement & Business Development
- Assist senior bankers in managing client relationships with energy companies, infrastructure funds, and financial sponsors.
- Support origination efforts by identifying potential clients and investment opportunities in energy transition technologies.
- Coordinate due diligence processes, engaging with technical, legal, and regulatory advisors.
Industry & Market Insights
- Monitor and analyze regulatory developments, carbon markets, and policy incentives driving the energy transition.
- Stay up to date with emerging clean energy innovations and sustainability trends affecting investment decisions.
- Collaborate with sector specialists, policymakers, and research teams to integrate ESG considerations into investment strategies.
Qualifications & Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in investment banking, project finance, private equity, or consulting with a focus on energy, renewables, or infrastructure.
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills, particularly in project finance and energy-related transactions.
- Experience with M&A, debt structuring, and capital raising in the energy or infrastructure sector.
- Knowledge of energy transition themes, including renewables, hydrogen, storage, CCUS, and sustainable finance.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage with clients and investors.
- Highly motivated with strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams.
- Fluency in English; additional language skills (e.g., German, French) are a plus.
