About the role -
The Project Engineer will take responsibility for the Development phase, compiling and recording customer requirements and developing them into a scheme considering external stakeholders including DNOs, IDNOs, Charger OEMs and others.
Projects will be located across the UK and EU with an expectation to conduct site surveys to record measurements, site details and customer requirements. Travel will be required but will be arranged to suit the individuals needs.
The role will interact closely with the Director of Project Development (who directly report) and wider teams in the delivery business unit. In addition, the job holder will actively participate in specific project concept, development, software, O&M activity and be responsible for ensuring bid/contract Governance compliance.
The role will require commercial and contractual competence to understand terms of engagement with customers and supply chain.
Key Responsibilities -
- Independently oversee, manage, and deliver a portfolio of opportunities with a focus on innovation, CDM compliance, commercial sensitivity and customer excellence.
- Work closely with Projects team to ensure development activity is compliant to client requirement for any assigned project and ready to be used for bid purposes
- Responsible for identifying potential supply chain and OEM equipment and engaging them to understand potential pricing structures
- Working with commercial team to understand and propose contractual terms
- Responsible for ensuring client approval of concept design
- Ability to undertake site surveys, record dimensions and appreciate existing electrical equipment and switchgear
- Experience and familiarity with CAD software and ability to use it to visualise schemes/indicative designs
- Confidence to share and conduct calls with customers and technical knowledge to be able to detail proposed ideas
- Responsible for ensuring all development activity is completed in relation to CDM compliance
- Responsible for delivering project associated governance activity during development
- Responsible for chairing and minuting project progress meetings during development
- For noncomplex activity, preparation, processing and triage of estimates, quotes, bids and tenders
- Ability to detail and form technical information into a manner that is clear to our customers
- Ability to compile developmental activity and estimating activity into a clear proposal or bid for our customers
About you -
- Engineering/Sustainability based Degree /HND
- Relevant technical qualification
- Ability and experience in using CAD and other similar software packages
- Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) and MS Project
- Demonstrate the ability to balance priorities among competing needs whilst providing the highest level of value to the company
- Demonstrate an understanding of the ecosystem approach to EV adoption on a large scale
- Understanding and experience with CDM
- Experience of supply chain engagement and bidding process
- Ability to perform a key role within a governance framework
- Commercially aware with a strong proven background in infrastructure development
- Ability to collaborate ensuring compliance to health, safety, and environmental legislation. Able to minimise risk through developing and endorsing safe operating processes
- Proven track record of delivering targets whilst maintaining outstanding customer relations/ services
