What we’re looking for
We are looking for a Lead Editor to develop and expand coverage of global carbon markets. The role is to be in London, UK. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, analytical, numerate and literate commodity market report editor to lead the development of an expanding product, drawing on your experience of producing news, analysis and commodity market pricing and managing an editorial team.
Your role will include leading a team of reporters and analysts globally, who are responsible for writing news articles and market analysis, producing price assessments and engaging with market participants. You will be responsible for driving the expansion of the editorial product as new carbon markets emerge and existing markets evolve. You will lead consultations with market participants where necessary and will be the first point of contact for any queries regarding pricing and methodology. You will have strong knowledge of carbon or relevant markets and a network of contacts in the industry.
You will collaborate with Argus’ established, market leading reports in other commodities across the energy and industrial sectors to create products that explain carbon markets to new participants. You will help develop analysis and fundamental datasets available to clients and ensure our product helps our clients achieve their goals.
The environment is fast paced but values careful thought. You will enjoy collaborative work with colleagues from a range of backgrounds, located in Argus’ other offices around the globe.
There is significant opportunity to travel and attend industry events, as well as to present at industry conferences and lead webinar sessions.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively to expand coverage of established and emerging carbon markets, developing methodologies to launch new market price assessments where appropriate.
- Engage with industry and customers to ensure a close understanding of market developments to ensure both methodology and the wider report remain relevant to the market. Build Argus brand awareness and pursue/maintain indexation opportunities.
- Contribute high-quality and original copy to the report and the online news service, with content ranging from market pricing and fundamentals analysis to regulatory/policy coverage and integration of new sectors and technologies.
- Edit copy from reporters, working with them to improve their skills and develop their knowledge of the markets. Ensure news is high quality, timely and relevant.
- Act as a lead representative of Argus at industry events and deliver presentations to clients and market at large promoting value proposition to market.
- Work with Business Development, Marketing and Sales departments to develop consistent approaches to customer engagement.
Skills And Experience
- At least five years’ experience in the carbon or a relevant sector as an editor or market analyst.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, strong news judgment and editing skills.
- Self-motivation and initiative to drive projects forward with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including mentoring junior staff.
- The ability to network and build contacts with industry executives and internally.
- Strong software skills and ability to analyse data.
