We're looking for a Vehicle Procurement Planning Manager, who will help drive our next stage of growth by ensuring we have the right volume of available procured vehicles in order to meet our sales targets.
By owning analysis of our historical sales data and leading a team to proactively manage inventory you will guide future Vehicle Procurement activity, playing a key role to support our growth ambitions at Octopus Electric Vehicles.
Reporting directly to the Head of Vehicle Procurement and Manufacturer Engagement, this role will help to drive growth through interrogating our internal and external performance data to understand trends and recommend which vehicle procurement activity we should undertake.
You will manage a team of 3 people to oversee pricing and inventory of procured vehicles, as well as oversee the inventory pipeline to ensure we sell and deliver stock in a timely manner.
If you’re someone with a good grasp of strategic thinking as well as a keen interest in commercial performance, an understanding of customer EV buying patterns and an ability to analyse and present on large data sets, this role could be the one for you!
**Please note this is a 12 month maternity cover starting in
February**
What You'll Do
- Forecasting of the required volume of new & nearly new (used) electric vehicle procurement required to support business growth ambitions
- Lead a team of Analysts and Pricing Managers to manage the effective pricing and sell-through of our inventory
- Own and create supply related reporting, setting KPIs and producing weekly updates / reports for key stakeholders within the Growth function
- Work closely with the Finance team to model the profit and working capital impact of our purchasing decisions and understand our current and future exposure
- Oversee management of inventory masterdata, ensuring accuracy and driving adoption of best practise
- Ad hoc analysis of sales data from our CRM and other sources in response to business need
- Constantly evolve and improve our processes to ensure the smooth selling of cars in our business, identifying potential issues and recommending fixes
- Occasionally attend OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) events / meetings on behalf of Octopus EV
- Create and present OEM pitch decks
- Build a good understanding of the EV market
- Act as the key point of contact between Growth, Operations and Finance sections of our business when it comes to selling vehicles
What You'll Need
- To be a strategic thinker - an ability to see the bigger picture
- Attention to detail & strong analytical skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to break down complex processes to understand and improve them
- Extensive experience working with large data sets and tools such as Excel (ERP system experience would be a bonus)
- A start up / entrepreneurial mind-set - adjusting to change at pace to keep up with a fast-moving business
- Proven experience of managing small teams to achieve performance against service level targets, with experience in coaching and team development
- Confidence in presenting clearly and succinctly to a range of stakeholders
- A strong passion for Electric Vehicles / green energy and decarbonisation
- A genuine passion for going above and beyond for the wider team and desire to have fun while doing it
- A constant focus on improving and developing personally supporting your team’s development
- An understanding of the EV market - would be a bonus
- Experience with a CRM and SQL - would be a bonus
