WSP Energy The Energy discipline consists of c. 350 colleagues in the UK and India. It consists of 6 service lines: Energy Advisory, Regulated Networks, Non-Regulated Networks, Quality Services, Renewables and Thermal Transition.

- Transition our thermal offering to low/zero carbon services - including Hydrogen and CCUS

- Expand Quality Services to face adjacent markets and grow asset management capability
- Expand our domestic Renewables footprint and materially grow offshore wind capability

YOUR NEW ROLE, WHAT’S INVOLVED?
We are seeking a Project Management Lead to join our Energy Transition business. You will lead our Major Projects group comprising project management, construction management, and project control professionals working across Energy Transition sectors which include Power Generation and Conversion Technologies, Carbon Capture, Hydrogen and Gas Distribution and Transmission, and Renewables.
As part of the Project Management Leadership team, you will be responsible for delivery performance across our Major Projects group with a key focus on project performance and team utilisation.
You will also provide Project Director level leadership to multi-disciplinary teams on major projects across Energy Transition.
Suitable candidates will be highly ambitious and driven, with experience of leading and growing teams. You will be able to demonstrate excellent client care, and a proven and successful approach to business development and delivery excellence.
Key Role Dynamics Are
- Providing strategic direction to the Major Project group aligning with our Energy Transition Strategy.
- Being accountable for project delivery performance including financial, people development and engagement, enhancing technical expertise and client satisfaction.
- Collaborating across the UK and global geographies.
- Driving innovation and productivity through the development and implementation of new tools and methods.
- Providing visible leadership in safety, health, and wellbeing, committed to a zero-harm culture.
- Leading influence in governance and control across projects.
YOUR TEAM
Our fast-growing multi-disciplinary Energy Transition team provides services to clients from inception and concept, through outline development, design, construction, operation, and decommissioning. We can and do support our clients over the entire lifecycle of their projects using our dedicated group of engineering and project support staff.
WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU’RE
- An experienced Project Management professional or leader known for driving innovation and trust, with a strong strategic vision and transformative leadership skills.
- A collaborative team builder, excelling in relationship-building and passionate about developing people, with a commitment to fostering team retention, progression, diversity, and inclusion.
- Capable of developing strong client relationships and have a proven track record of delivering projects across all stages of development in the Energy sector.
- Ideally carrying significant experience across different consulting and contracting models such as EPC, EPCM, Reimbursable, Incentivised, and Fixed Price.
- Holding experience of delivering consultancy services in the Energy sector with a commitment to problem solving in a collaborative way;
- Able to deal with conflicting priorities and to offer win-win solutions;
- The ability to travel within the UK and overseas.
- Educated to degree standard, with an MBA or relevant post-degree qualification being a further advantage. Exceptional candidates without a degree will also be considered if they can demonstrate equivalent professional qualifications (e.g. Chartered status) by suitable experience.
- A full Member of a relevant professional body.
- Continuing and evidencing your professional development, through participation in relevant organisations, conferences, events and self-study.
