About The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Sustainability Communications Lead develop and lead internal and external sustainability communications priorities and workstreams related to Jacobs’ strategy, brand, and market presence. This includes developing and stewarding high-profile thought leadership opportunities to enhance Jacobs’ external sustainability presence, as well as developing and overseeing internal campaigns and resources to enhance employee engagement and activation on key sustainability priorities and initiatives.
In this role, you’ll work closely with both Jacobs’ Global Sustainability Leadership and Global Communications teams to steward and maintain consistency across internal and external content and language related to sustainability; impact; resilience; climate response; environmental, social, and governance (ESG); greenwashing; and related themes – staying abreast of current and emerging trends in the terminology and messaging related to sustainability worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
This leader will be proactive, strategic, outcome-oriented, responsive, agile, and eager to work effectively both independently and in broad collaboration to meet ambitious deadlines in support of Jacobs’ strategy, sustainability program, market differentiation and growth.
In this role, your key contributions, responsibilities and workstreams will include
- Strategic communications leadership for all activities related to Jacobs’ global sustainability strategy, PlanBeyond, including researching, benchmarking, and strategic recommendations for content and format; oversight/project management of development schedule; content development; stakeholder engagement and feedback facilitation; creative direction and graphics coordination; and roll-out planning and management
- Development, management and key point of contact for external sustainability communications including relevant Jacobs.com webpages, news articles, people profiles, press releases, social media, and beyond
- Proactive, strategic advisory and review of sustainability content in key corporate materials (e.g., annual ESG disclosures, Integrated Annual Report, 10-K, Proxy) as well as investor relations materials (e.g., earnings decks and transcripts, investor ESG deck, investor relations ESG microsite, talking points for investor engagement)
- Strategic advisory, content development, and management of sustainability thought leadership opportunities for Jacobs’ leaders such as podcasts, white papers, awards submissions, videos, and speaking opportunities
- Strategic communications advisory and point of contact for Jacobs’ participation in major sustainability events such as UN COPs for climate and biodiversity, and London and New York Climate Weeks
- Relationship management and key point of contact for major sustainability memberships and pledges such as Trellis, Resilience First, World Climate Foundation, Race to Resilience, Race to Net Zero, UN Global Compact
- Development and stewardship of global, approved sustainability language, talking points, case studies, and relevant information to be used by leadership and employees
- Oversight and management of key internal platforms and sustainability information channels including Global PlanBeyond Resource Hub and JacobsConnect sustainability pages
- Development and facilitation of internal events and employee outreach activities to advance Jacobs’ sustainability strategy including PlanBeyond Town Halls, Jacobs Sustainability Network engagements, awareness campaigns (e.g., Earth Day, Plastic Free July), initiative roll-outs (e.g., business travel emissions reduction, Evolve launch), Bridges to Prosperity messaging, sustainability trainings, and internal awards
- General communications support and content development for Global Sustainability Leadership Team including but not limited to talking points, speeches, email messages, executive briefing decks (e.g., PlanBeyond Executive Steering Committee), and background briefings
Here's what you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business, or related
- Proven experience strategically developing, leading and executing communications campaigns.
- A passion for sustainability, and experience delivering related messaging
