Benson Mack Search has been engaged by an established European Joint Venture to appoint a Senior Solar Project Manager to their team and support the progression of their 2GW pipeline of solar and BESS projects across England and Wales.
You will join a supportive and highly experienced development team and play a key role in the planning and development of an array of utility scale solar and BESS projects, from origination through to ready-to-build stage. The ideal candidate will have a background in project development (e.g. planning, EIA, land) and a track record of taking renewable energy projects through to successful consent within the UK or Ireland.
Role:
- Lead the planning, management and delivery of an array of solar and BESS projects at all stages of development from site origination through to shovel-ready status.
- Engage with planning authorities, landowners, statutory consultees, stakeholder groups and the wider public, including presentations and co-ordination of community and stakeholder consultation meetings
- Run tender processes and manage external consultants/ contractors
- Engage with relevant authorities including DNOs and National Grid in relation to grid capacity and connection opportunities for new and existing sites.
- Liaise with internal teams and coordinate external consultants (e.g. grid, land, planning).
- Manage project budgets and report on project progress
Requirements:
- Degree in relevant subject (e.g. planning, environment, surveying)
- Demonstrable experience in the planning and development of renewable energy projects in the UK, either with a developer, owner operator, or consultancy firm.
- Track record of successfully securing planning permissions and consents for large scale energy projects.
- Knowledge of the UK planning system (e.g. TCPA, DCO) and the associated regulatory landscape
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build good working relationships internally and externally.
- Full UK Driving Licence
