The Role
The Head of Delivery Solar and Storage is the lead role in the Central Technical Operations (CTO) delivery team for the Solar, storage and Private Wire (SSPW) Business Unit.
They form part of the leadership team for the Business Unit with dotted line reporting into the SSPW Director. The role manages the multi-discipline delivery team.
Included in this is line management of all Project Management resource and delivery focused Engineers. The role delivers a consistent approach to development and construction across all SSPW projects.
Responsibilities will include:
- Accountable for the delivery strategy and delivery performance for the SSPW portfolio.
- Play a key role in the Business Units lead team helping to shape the overall strategy for the business unit and championing good practice in delivery.
- Ensure a consistent approach to SSPW project delivery such that safety, quality, programme, risk and value are measured and balanced to deliver optimised project outcomes for the business unit across the full asset lifecycle.
- Accountable for CDM compliance of SSPW projects in development and construction.
- Accountable for prioritising resource and maintaining resource levels for the delivery of SSPW projects in development and construction.
- Accountable for optimal delivery through embedding lessons learnt across projects and technologies.
- Leadership role for to the assigned delivery team resource for development and construction projects.
- Ensure the appropriate governance is provided in delivery of SSPW projects.
- Ensure adequate resource is assigned from CTO or external sources to efficiently deliver the business unit objectives.
- Accountable for setting and delivering targets in delivery for the technology.
- Optimisation of delivery strategy using lessons learnt and market intelligence.
- Strong collaboration with central CTO teams and the wider business where required.
- Actively engage in internal lead teams and committees when required.
What experience will you need to be successful in this role?
- Proven leadership experience within the renewables industry (preferably with some experience in PV Solar and storage), and specifically within the delivery phase of utility scale projects.
- Demonstrable experience in successfully managing a multi-functional team of project, engineering, and commercial professionals across a portfolio of renewable projects during the delivery phase.
- Proven success establishing and managing relationships, securing and maintaining a safe environment, managing priorities, and inspiring and influencing behaviours and actions.
- Degree in a relevant construction or engineering discipline, or the equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrable experience of managing risks and challenges in a renewables environment.
- Excellent at building successful relationships with external partners, peers, stakeholders, suppliers and reporting line.
- Demonstrable influencing and persuasion skills.
- Able to lead and coordinate an ad-hoc team for a specific achievement.
- Good command of Microsoft Office package (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point, etc.).
- Confident in your communication and presentation skills.
- Strong commitment to safety, health, environment and quality.
Location and Travel
This role will be based out of London, Durham or Edinburgh, with a blend of home and office based working expected. It is expected that the postholder be a visible presence to the wider team. Regular travel to project sites and other EDF offices within the UK will be required. Additional travel to EDF offices in the EU may also be required.
