Role Overview:
The Senior Chemical Engineer will be a key player in the development and optimization of chemical processes related to renewable energy production, including bioenergy, energy storage systems, and sustainable chemical processes. The role involves working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-performance, efficient, and environmentally friendly energy solutions. The Senior Chemical Engineer will provide technical leadership, conduct process simulations and modeling, and ensure all projects meet stringent safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of chemical processes for renewable energy technologies, including biofuels, energy storage, and other sustainable chemical solutions.
- Conduct feasibility studies, process simulations, and modeling to evaluate new technologies and processes.
- Provide expert technical guidance and troubleshooting support to the engineering and operations teams.
- Oversee the scale-up of chemical processes from pilot to full-scale production.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and regulatory standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil) to integrate chemical processes into larger renewable energy systems.
- Lead the preparation of technical reports, process documentation, and cost estimates.
- Manage and mentor junior chemical engineers, providing leadership and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure project success.
- Contribute to the development of innovative strategies to improve energy efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness in chemical processes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional qualification (e.g., IChemE).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in chemical engineering, with a focus on renewable energy, bioenergy, or sustainable chemical processes.
- Expertise in process simulation and modeling software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS, MATLAB).
- Strong knowledge of renewable energy systems, including biofuels, energy storage, and other green chemical technologies.
- Proven track record in process design, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- In-depth understanding of environmental, safety, and regulatory standards related to chemical engineering and energy production.
- Experience with project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD).
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
