Due to company growth plans and an increasing pipeline of leads, Enspec is looking for an organised and experienced Senior Earthing Systems Engineer to join our team. This role will focus on delivering high-quality earthing studies, typically using CDEGS. Over time, this role will evolve into leading and developing an earthing team, ensuring the continued expansion and excellence of our earthing services.
The Role
- Lead and deliver earthing studies using CDEGS or XGSLab software, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
- Conduct and oversee earthing studies & design.
- Extend earthing services to include additional studies, such as EMF, power quality, harmonic filtering, and grounding for dynamic systems.
- Develop and implement earthing solutions for new infrastructure projects and grid connections.
- Provide technical support and expertise on earthing studies for both onshore and offshore developers.
- Support the integration of earthing systems with other power system components, such as protection coordination, harmonic filters, and reactive compensation.
- Contribute to and mentor the development of an earthing team, responsible for conducting a full suite of earthing and relevant power systems studies.
- Provide technical leadership on earthing studies, ensuring the delivery of high-quality reports and proposals.
- Build and maintain key client relationships, positioning Enspec as a leader in earthing solutions.
A typical week would include:
- Delivering earthing consultancy services, including CDEGS/XGSLab-based grounding studies, fault level analysis, and grounding solutions for diverse infrastructure projects.
- Providing technical and project management leadership to ensure successful delivery of earthing studies.
- Ensuring the technical quality of power systems studies, reports, and proposals, particularly focusing on earthing and grounding solutions.
- Leading the development and delivery of project proposals and identifying opportunities to expand earthing services.
- Advancing excellence in earthing-related software packages (e.g., CDEGS, XGSLab) and related power systems tools.
- Mentoring and training junior engineers and developing a strong earthing team.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent.
- UK experience in earthing studies and grounding system design
- Proficiency with CDEGS software, as well as other power systems analysis tools such as XGSLab.
- Being able to use AutoCAD to prepare earthing layout drawings.
- A proven track record in the delivery of technical consulting projects specifically related to earthing designs.
- Strong knowledge of earthing system design and fault current analysis for BESS, PV, WF & industrial projects in the UK.
- Ability to mentor and develop a team of engineers in earthing systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Customer-facing skills with a strong team-oriented culture.
Preference
- Knowledge of international markets (e.g., USA, Australia, and Africa) and their power quality and earthing standards is a plus.
- Interest in sustainable energy solutions, including BESS, PV, EV charger, Hydrogen production, Onshore & Offshore WFs and their impact on earthing design.
- Knowledge of UK Grid Compliance Studies.
