Depop’s two ‘Retrieval’ teams, ‘Search’ and ‘Recommendations’ are at the heart of the discovery experience, guiding buyers to the perfect listings within Depop’s diverse inventory.
We’re looking for a Product Manager to lead one of these teams, owning its roadmap and collaborating with Engineering and Machine Learning partners to craft systems that power relevant, personalised discovery for our users. Reporting to the Product Lead for Depop’s Match initiative, you’ll work cross-functionally with Product Managers from other areas across the business to understand and prioritise their needs.
Responsibilities
Strategy and roadmap:
- Work with technical co-partners to define and implement a product vision and strategy.
- You won’t be expected to come up with all the ideas, but instead facilitate excellent conceptualisation, prioritisation and decision making with your technical co-partners.
- Work with Product Analysts to define and monitor the key metrics for your team and ensure ongoing experimentation best practices.
Deciding What To Build
- Prioritise your team’s time and resources to achieve the maximum progress on key quarterly objectives, ensuring efforts are directed where they matter most
- Interact with stakeholders throughout the business to understand and prioritise their retrieval needs
- Use user research and thorough data analysis to make informed decisions about what to and what not to build and ensure this technical team remains connected to the needs of our users.
Keeping Everyone Aligned And Informed
- Aligning with the Product lead and the functional leadership on the priorities and strategic goals of the wider ‘Match’ product area (Recommendations, Search, Ranking teams)
- Keeping all stakeholders informed about team direction and progress
- Motivating the team and giving them the context they need to reach their potential
Requirements
- Experience as a Product Manager ideally working with ML products, or in a highly relevant technical field.
- Excellent communication skills. You are logical, articulate, and can work collaboratively with highly technical stakeholders.
- A strong sense of ownership and be highly organised. You create order in the world around you and get huge satisfaction from delivering the highest quality features
- Beginner’s Mindset is one of our core values. We’re a learning organisation, and a group of people that thrive on getting better every day. Your curiosity and thirst for knowledge are more important than what you know already.
- Great commercial awareness. You think constantly about driving business results, and base your decisions in data, user interviews, and rigorous analysis
Things That Would Be Useful, But Are Not Essential
- Experience working in a marketplace business
- Experience working in Recommendations, Search or Ranking
- Technical background, for example, engineering or machine learning
- A love of fashion, especially if you’re already part of the Depop community
