sHYp Vision: We produce green hydrogen production from seawater to enable:
· Implementation of green H2 in remote, marine, shoreline, & offshore applications
· Water sustainability, CO2 capture, and low-CO2 footprint co-products
· Net zero goals for our clients, partners, and the hydrogen industry
sHYp Mission
· To deploy membraneless electrolyser systems through strategic partnerships, a unique technical-sustainability value proposition, and a people-oriented value system.
Job Description:
In this position, you will work with our electrolyser team to build, test, demonstrate and integrate our balance-of-plant (BOP) system for using seawater directly as the influent to our electrolyser systems. The BOP system is a crucial piece of sHYp’s innovation and allows us to use seawater directly without having to desalinate the seawater prior to entering our membraneless electrolyser. This position will primarily be laboratory focused, with opportunities to integrate with the process design team and with modelling of unit processes and the BOP system. This position will include work with complex water chemistry, precipitation reactions and control of solubility and pH within our system. You will have opportunities to identify key areas of interest or other projects within the sHYp technology portfolio to expand your learning and knowledge base and independence in the laboratory and in creative problem solving is expected and encouraged.
Skills required by this job:
· Detailed water chemistry and precipitation thermodynamics and kinetics of real water systems
· Electrochemistry experience
· Process design and implementation of process design in real systems
· Scale-up of balance-of-plant systems
· Integration of unit processes and implementation of controls and energy efficiency design
· Team-based project design and management
· Business model, market analysis, hydrogen markets economics
· Electrocatalyst and electrode knowledge
· Communication skills
Educational Background Required:
· Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering PhD or Masters
· Expertise in water/wastewater unit processes engineering
· Expertise in water chemistry
· Experimental or pilot system design, build and operation
· Demonstrated experiences working in a team environment and developing your human skillset (communication, empathy, respect, understanding, commitment, follow through, self-inquiry)
