NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) is on a mission to make a carbon-free, climate-safe future a reality. We are building the world’s largest plant to produce green ammonia at scale, providing humankind with a cost-efficient solution that will accelerate the worldwide green hydrogen economy. Located in NEOM and supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, NGHC will be integrating up to 4GW of onshore solar and wind energy to supply up to 650 tons of green ammonia per day for transportation globally. Operations will go onstream in 2026. NGHC brings together the technology, operational efficiency and know-how of ACWA Power, Air Products and NEOM in a joint-venture partnership with over 80 years of combined experience in the fields of hydrogen, energy, renewables and global networks.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Shift Supervisor oversees the control operations and the work performed by other control room positions. This role is responsible and accountable for the operation of all utility assets including; traditional Utility assets such as Power Plants, Transmission lines, Distribution, Substation, as well as non-utility behind the meter assets such as DERs and BESS.
The Shift Supervisor directs electric system operations engineering by monitoring, planning, analysing, directing, and executing 24/7 grid operations. Directly responsible for managing Company generation and transmission operations functions to maintain safe and reliable electric service to prevent power outages. Monitors multiple switching and distribution operations centres showing operating conditions of lines and equipment throughout the system and adjusts or directs workers to make adjustments as conditions warrant. Takes responsibility for substation operations and other field personnel to de-energize malfunctioning circuits or adjust switches to ensure safety of all crews and the public as well as ensure safe and reliable operation of electrical systems.
Ensures the stability and reliability of the electrical grid. You will be responsible for overseeing grid operations, managing renewable energy integration, and coordinating with various stakeholders to maintain grid balance and optimize renewable energy utilization. This role requires a deep understanding of grid operations, renewable energy technologies, and regulatory requirements.
NATURE & SCOPE
The main functions of this position are:
- Supervise operational EPMS Dispatchers/Schedulers and report the performance in accordance with established Operational KPIs
- Develop and review (where available) standard operating procedures in line with O&M Manual and OEM Recommendations
- Timely identify all requirements for successful and controlled EPMS operations.
- Develop and conduct training plans for operational subordinates.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES
Grid Operations Management:
- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day grid operations activities, including scheduling, dispatching, and real-time monitoring of energy generation and consumption.
- Implement and oversee operational procedures to ensure grid stability, reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Analyze grid performance data, identify potential issues, and develop strategies to optimize grid operations efficiency.
Renewable Energy Integration:
- Develop and implement strategies for the seamless integration of renewable energy sources, such as wind, solar, and hydroelectric power, into the grid.
- Coordinate with renewable energy developers, transmission operators, and regulatory agencies to facilitate the connection of new renewable energy projects to the grid.
- Optimize renewable energy dispatch and curtailment strategies to maximize renewable energy utilization while maintaining grid stability.
Grid Operations Management:
- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day grid operations activities, including scheduling, dispatching, and real-time monitoring of energy generation and consumption.
- Implement and oversee operational procedures to ensure grid stability, reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Analyze grid performance data, identify potential issues, and develop strategies to optimize grid operations efficiency.
Emergency Response and Contingency Planning:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans to address potential grid disturbances, extreme weather events, or equipment failures.
- Coordinate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory authorities during grid emergencies to ensure a timely and effective response.
- Conduct regular training exercises and drills to test emergency response procedures and enhance preparedness.
Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:
- Stay informed about relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards related to grid operations and renewable energy integration.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations, reporting requirements, and reliability standards set by regulatory authorities, such as FERC and NERC.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports, compliance filings, and operational data as required by regulatory agencies.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, renewable energy developers, and regulatory agencies to address grid operation challenges and promote renewable energy integration.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on grid operations, renewable energy integration efforts, and regulatory compliance matters.
- Represent the organization in industry forums, working groups, and regulatory proceedings related to grid operations and renewable energy.
- Maintain safe and environmentally sustainable operation of power plants and associated networks.
- Monitor the implementation of safety procedures through the safety section under his/her jurisdiction.
- Provide leadership to the department staff, supervise, and manage their performance and development in line with the Organization’s goals, objectives, policies and regulations.
- Develop a departmental annual work plan and financial budget and monitor their implementation in line with the Business plan.
- Represent the company effectively and strategically in and to related industry groups, forums, and agencies.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, power systems engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in grid operations, preferably in a renewable energy generation-centric environment. 3 of which should be at a senior operation level.
- Strong understanding of power system operation principles, grid control strategies, and renewable energy technologies.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to grid operations and renewable energy integration (e.g., FERC, NERC, IEEE).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Leadership experience, with the ability to manage teams and coordinate complex projects.
- Professional certifications related to grid operations or renewable energy management are desirable.
