NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) is on a mission to make a carbon-free, climate-safe future a reality. We are building the world’s largest plant to produce green ammonia at scale, providing humankind with a cost-efficient solution that will accelerate the worldwide green hydrogen economy. Located in NEOM and supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, NGHC will be integrating up to 4GW of onshore solar and wind energy to supply up to 650 tons of green ammonia per day for transportation globally. Operations will go onstream in 2026. NGHC brings together the technology, operational efficiency and know-how of ACWA Power, Air Products and NEOM in a joint-venture partnership with over 80 years of combined experience in the fields of hydrogen, energy, renewables and global networks.
JOB DETAILS
Division: NGHC Operations.
REPORTS TO: HIDC Superintendent.
LIAISE/COOPERATE WITH: Plant operation staff, maintenance Technicians, Technical Support Teams and contractors.
POSITION SUMMARY
Hydrogen Innovation and Development Center (HIDC) Control Room Operator role is a key member of the O&M team for NGHC.
Responsible for the day to day of the hydrogen production process, which includes operating and controlling: Electrolysers, H2 compressors, Deoxo reactors, TSAs, water treatment and H2 pipeline.
The incumbent shall operate in accordance with company safety policies and site-specific procedures to ensure reliability, efficiency and productivity goals are met.
Based in Neom, the position reports to HIDC Superintendent.
NATURE & SCOPE
The main functions of this position are:
- SAFETY IS FIRST, nothing is important than safety, be fully aligned with all EH&S standards to achieve the goal of zero (0) lost time injuries at HIDC.
- Supervise DCS, data acquisition and alarm management systems, responding to normal and abnormal operating conditions of the plant to ensure quality, safety, efficiency, and production goals are met.
- Troubleshoot, respond to operating conditions, respond to customer order rates, and process optimization.
- Perform daily/monthly routines in accordance with operation and maintenance manuals, procedures, safety policies, and site-specific requirements.
- Candidates will be required to meet training requirements and successfully pass scheduled validation reviews.
- Actively participate in NGHC safety programs, promote, and enforce safety rules and good housekeeping methods.
- Act as a point of contact for daily operations communications with our clients following NHGH communication protocols.
- Build and maintain a good relationship with all customers and stakeholders to ensure close cooperation.
- Understand the detailed Emergency Response Plan, accept authority in an emergency to take all steps necessary to protect personnel, and ensure safe operation or plant shut down.
- It is required to be qualified as a safe work permit issuer and confined space supervisor. Will issue work permits or act as a confined space supervisor when there is a requirement.
- Must perform daily chemical and water analysis and must report to the plant superintendent in a timely manner.
- Will be responsible of overall housekeeping in the plant.
- Will work rotating shifts.
- Will be on call during certain periods of time.
- Assist in updating operating procedures as required.
- KPIs follow up to ensure operation performance.
- Strong commitment to team building, integrity, and diversity.
- Provide shutdown support leading the operation activities.
- Provide training to new operators.
- Contribute to maintaining site management systems, e.g. MOC, BPs, SWIMs, JSAs.
- Have a positive attitude.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:
- The position is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of the H2 production plant following the NGHC standards.
- Will monitor compliance with EH&S standards for all daily activities performed at the plant.
- Will develop and update operation procedures.
- Will develop a relevant role in daily operational communications with customers.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:
- Will act as a new operator’s trainer and will supervise contractor through work permits.
SKILLS / TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AREAS:
- High school diploma in a technical discipline or equivalent experience
- Candidate must possess a strong safety focus and background.
- More than 5 years of experience in production plants DCS operation.
- Experience in handling PFDs, P&IDs, Single Line Diagrams and Shutdown Matrix.
- Basic computer proficiency and software knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong knowledge of work permits, confined spaces and LOTO.
- Must be willing to work 8-hr rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be willing to be on call.
- Ability to work alone in a control room.
- Ability to set priorities.
- Good command of written and spoken English.

- Be enthusiastic and willing to learn.
- Degree in a technical school is a plus.
- Plant maintenance experience is a plus.
- Hydrogen production experience is a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- High school diploma in a technical discipline and a minimum of 5 years of related plant operation experience in the industrial gas, chemical, refining and or related industry.
