Job Summary
The Director - Sustainable Planning and Design will be a highly experienced and results-oriented professional responsible for leading and managing all aspects of sustainable planning and design within the NEOM The Line project. This role requires a deep understanding of sustainable development principles, urban planning, and environmental science, as well as strong leadership and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy for The Line, ensuring the integration of environmental, social, and economic considerations into all aspects of the project.
- Lead and manage a team of sustainability professionals, including urban planners, environmental scientists, and sustainability consultants.
- Coordinate with various stakeholders, including architects, engineers, urban planners, and community members, to ensure the integration of sustainability principles into the design and development of The Line.
- Oversee the development and implementation of sustainable infrastructure, including renewable energy systems, water conservation measures, and waste management systems.
- Promote the use of sustainable building materials and construction practices.
- Develop and implement strategies for environmental protection and biodiversity conservation.
- Monitor and evaluate the environmental and social impacts of the project and make necessary adjustments to minimize negative impacts.
- Develop and implement policies and guidelines related to sustainability within The Line.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in sustainable development and best practices in green building and urban planning.
- Contribute to the development of a sustainable and resilient city that minimizes its environmental footprint.
- Represent Parsons in meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and sustainability standards.
- Promote a culture of sustainability throughout the project.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Architecture, or a related field from an accredited university.
- Master's degree in a relevant field preferred.
- Minimum 25 years of progressive experience in sustainable development, urban planning, or environmental management.
- Proven experience in leading and managing multidisciplinary teams.
- In-depth knowledge of sustainable development principles, environmental science, and urban planning.
- Experience with the development and implementation of sustainable urban development plans.
- Strong understanding of environmental impact assessment and environmental management systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong leadership, mentorship, and team-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
