Job Summary:
The Project Engineer - EV Infrastructure (Part-Time) will lead the technical aspects of deploying our client's Charge Management System (CMS) at customer sites. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth implementation of their platform for mission-critical fleet operators, providing seamless integration between chargers, charge management systems, and fleet vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Assessment & Technical Analysis:
- Analyze site electrical designs and conduct on-site evaluations.
- Determine optimal power meter placement.
- Assess LAN/WAN network infrastructure to ensure IoT connectivity.
- Deployment & Commissioning:
- Oversee the installation of hardware (carried out by third-party contractors).
- Commission power meters, local controllers, and networking equipment.
- Utilize industry protocols such as OCPP and Modbus for system integration.
Troubleshooting & Compliance:
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Work closely with third-party vendors to resolve integration challenges.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:
- Act as a technical liaison between customers, OEMs (chargers, vehicles, electrical infrastructure), and installation teams.
- Work closely with internal software and product development teams to refine and enhance the platform.
Process Improvement & Industry Engagement:
- Develop inspection and test plans to ensure high-quality deployments.
- Build relationships with local installers, maintenance providers, and industry stakeholders.
- Attend client meetings and provide regular project updates to stakeholders.
What You Will Bring To The Role
- Strong technical problem-solving skills across multiple disciplines (electrical, telecommunications, software, etc.).
- Technical diploma or engineering degree in Electrical/Electronics, Control Systems, or Telecommunications.
- Experience designing and commissioning industrial control systems, LAN network infrastructure, and/or electrical distribution systems.
- Knowledge of local and regional electrical regulations.
- Located in London and able to travel to customer sites across the UK.
- Strong coordination skills to manage interactions with customers, OEMs, installation teams, and internal departments.
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving project scopes, customer needs, and emerging technologies.
- Ability to provide urgent after-hours support when required.
- Experience maintaining detailed records of test procedures, customer interactions, and troubleshooting steps.
- Familiarity with EV charging infrastructure and protocols (e.g., OCPP).
- Prior experience in the EV industry is highly desirable
