Position: Subsea Project Engineer
Location: London
The Subsea Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the completion of various projects from basic design to final commissioning. The role encompasses technical, engineering, and commercial aspects of subsea projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations aligned with industry codes and standards.
Depending on the assigned project, the individual may lead a team of Subsea Engineers/Specialists and collaborate with external vendors and suppliers. The position also involves international travel to interface with subsidiaries.
Key Requirements
Essential Skills:
- Comprehensive technical and engineering expertise in Subsea Systems, particularly in Deepwater Projects. Experience should span all phases of projects, including design, tender, construction/testing, and installation.
- Proficiency in IT tools: AutoCAD, MS Office Suite.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with 7+ years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Specialization in one or more of the following areas:
- Subsea Production Systems
- Subsea Well Intervention
- Subsea Flowline
- Subsea Integrity Management
- Subsea Flexible Flowlines/Risers
- Subsea Control Systems
- Subsea ROV Operations
- Subsea Construction
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with subsea intervention work, work-class ROV operations, and relevant standards/tools.
- Fluency in English.
- Experience with both contractor and operator roles is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities and Activities:
- Support to Production/Operation Team:
- Troubleshoot and provide engineering support for existing subsea equipment.
- Define and execute intervention plans for subsea operations, coordinating offshore execution.
- Build and develop in-house knowledge of subsea intervention.
- Create task plans for subsea projects.
- Design of Facilities:
- Ensure the safe design of facilities that comply with company policies, international standards, and regulations.
- Ensure operability, maintainability, and reliability of facilities.
- Coordinate project interfaces and ensure consistency in activities.
- Project Management:
- Oversee project schedules and budgets.
- Prepare budgets and monitor commitments, expenses, and cost forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
- Manage contractors and ensure accurate reporting.
- Prepare close-out reports and lead lessons learned sessions for offshore work.
Other Activities:
- Coordinate with internal and external project stakeholders.
- Mentor and support less experienced team members.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date system status within the Subsea Group.
HSEQ Responsibilities:
- Support and enforce HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) objectives and directives.
- Identify and prioritize risks, implementing mitigation measures.
- Participate in HAZID/HAZOP/Risk Assessments, providing input from a subsea operations perspective.
- Promote HSEQ awareness among the workforce and contractors.
- Address and report potential risks or hazards raised by team members.
- Conduct alignment sessions for project management team members regarding objectives.
