We are seeking a highly experienced Fleet Manager to join our Senior Management Team. This is a pivotal role that requires strategic vision, operational expertise, and exceptional leadership to oversee the efficient management of our fleet and ensure compliance with all regulatory and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Fleet Management:
Oversee the operation, maintenance, and development of our diverse fleet to meet business and client needs.
Implement and manage fleet strategies that align with the company’s operational and financial objectives.
Monitor and analyse fleet performance metrics, ensuring cost-efficiency and operational effectiveness.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure the fleet operates in full compliance with UK transport and safety legislation, including Operator Licence requirements.
Manage vehicle inspections, MOTs, and maintenance schedules to ensure safety and legal compliance.
Develop and promote a robust health and safety culture across all fleet-related activities.
Sustainability and Innovation:
Drive initiatives to reduce the company’s carbon footprint, including the adoption of sustainable technologies and practices.
Explore innovative solutions to optimise fleet performance and efficiency.
Financial and Budgetary Control:
Manage fleet-related budgets, including procurement, maintenance, and operational costs.
Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.
Leadership and Team Management:
Lead, motivate, and develop a team of transport professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Work collaboratively with the Senior Management Team to achieve organisational objectives.
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to enhance operational performance.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
Proven experience in a senior fleet management role within the haulage or logistics industry.
CPC National (Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage) – Essential for this role.
In-depth knowledge of UK transport legislation, including compliance with Operator Licence requirements.
Strong understanding of vehicle technology, maintenance, and sustainable practices.
Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and influence at all levels.
Financial acumen, including budget management and cost optimisation.
Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive approach to challenges.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
