Purpose Of Role
- Support delivery of sustainability and ESG compliance related workstreams to ensure the company’s compliance with mandatory reporting requirements and business needs.
- Embed new/enhanced practices to embed sustainability and ESG to efficiently meet the company and our stakeholders’ requirements.
- Lead on the delivery of selected sustainability & ESG projects in areas such as biodiversity net gain, energy management, occupier engagement and guidance on communications.

Duties Of The Role
- Complete tasks that ensure Peel complies with all relevant sustainability and ESG mandatory requirements and stakeholder requests in a timely manner.
- Assist the Sustainability and ESG Manager with ESG data gathering, analysis and reporting.
- Participate in the sustainability and ESG internal auditing programme.
- Manage the Sustainability extranet page, MS Teams channel and Sustainability inbox, responding to internal and external stakeholder requests in a timely manner.
- Lead on the engagement with Peels Sustainability Champions across the business units and coordinate any support the business, team or individual may need to deliver their sustainability commitments.
- Develop and/or update resources and tools for business areas to apply across their activities including raising awareness and training of teams using them.
- Provide support to Peel Group and Peel Land on Sustainability and ESG-related projects and initiatives.
- Provide advice to strategic areas on their sustainability-related targets in line with relevant
- Sustainable Development Goals and support delivery of the targets for Peel Land.
- Support Peel Land with sustainability-related work streams related to ongoing and future planning permissions (e.g. sustainability statements, biodiversity net gain assessments).
- Ensure sustainability-related messaging is embedded into relevent marketing and communications pieces for Peel Land are using best practice.
- Support the facilitation of projects across topics such as biodiversity net gain, natural capital, climate risk, energy and carbon management, social value and governance.
- Undertake financial and administrative activities such as raising purchase orders, submitting invoices for the sustainability team budget and arranging meetings.
Essential Skills / Experience / Qualifications Required
- Experience of working on sustainability issues in a company environment
- Knowledge on a wide range of sustainability topics and the planning process
- Proficient in the use of MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Problem-solving ability
- Ability to work independently and take the initiative
- A good understanding of data management and analysis
- Excellent organisational skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
- Degree/Masters in Sustainability, Geography or relevant field
Desired Skills / Experience Required
- Member of a relevant professional body (e.g. IEMA, Society for the Environment)
- Wide-ranging knowledge of issues relating to sustainability and ESG in the property and land sectors
- Advance knowledge on biodiversity and natural capital
- Familiarity with planning permission documentation and interaction with ESG topics
- Auditing experience on environmental, social and governance topics
- Experience of giving presentations and chairing meetings
- Ability to motivate colleagues and inspire enthusiasm for sustainability issues
