To manage several key client accounts to ensure delivery of excellent operational service through internal and external offerings. Full profit and loss responsibility and accountability. Deliver first-class health and safety culture through efficient operative management and lead safety culture on non-operative sites through effective consultation with key client stakeholders. Responsible for proactive negotiations and actions for extensions outside of tenders. Responsibility for generating Improvement Project Plans to increase client sustainability, generate financial savings and improve safety culture across client portfolio, with responsibility for total project management of these initiatives.

- Primary interface between the company and all client stakeholders, responsible for ensuring strategic business account plans are implemented, service success, safety culture, contract compliance, retention, and pricing negotiations.
- The Contract Manager is the sole point of contact for diverse range of client stakeholders through operational consistency, MI reporting, trend analysis, data presentation and client engagement strategies and invoicing
- Growth and improving profitability of these customers by way of improved commercial performance, upselling (such as equipment, increased services
- Production of monthly reports and detailed management information, including provision of data for customer's CSR reporting and delivery of all contractual KPIs.
- Implementation of site waste minimisation programmes against set improvement targets and strategic plan as well as the implementation of initiatives to reduce cost, improve environmental performance and improve general waste handling practices.
- Managing monthly profit and loss across designated portfolio - with full responsibility for effective cost management and revenue accruals, and balancing accounting practices from designated Biffa accounting periods against client accounting period expectations and ensuring consistent delivery of internal accounts against budgeted and forecasted expectations
- To possess a high level of sector expertise and understanding, across several disciplines (such as Health and Safety, Duty of Care, resource management, hazardous waste management).
- Lead the Safety Culture on client sites by giving direction, guidance, and coaching with regards to working practices to all onsite operatives, both directly employed and agency staff
- Provide Contract Manager support to colleagues/client sites as part of a team to afford additional resources for large-scale projects, emergency services, industry specialist knowledge, common legislative requirements that may fall outside of immediate personal portfolio.
Requirements
Here's what we require{{:}}
- Experience as an Operations Manager or position of similar responsibility in services or the manufacturing industry.
- Experience of people and health and safety management
- An understanding of lean methodology and the ability to work to clearly defined KPIs
- Proven track record of delivering continuous improvement within an Operational/Service environment.
- The ability to work within a commercially driven and time-critical environment
- Knowledge of existing and impending environmental and health and safety legislation
- Strong presentation, negotiating and influential skills.
- Excellent communication skill with the ability to communicate in writing, on a one to one basis and via the phone with all levels including management, team members and internal/external customers
- Robust and resilient, able to absorb pressure and respond positively
- The ability to communicate with conviction, plan with precision and, most importantly, play well with others
- Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths, however A-Levels or a Degree certainly won't do any harm
- Computer literate - comfortable using business software and Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and PowerPoint
- Full current UK Car Driving licence
- Willingness to adapt and develop skill-sets and knowledge as determined by the post and business.
