Role Summary
Working as part of the Corporate Responsibility team you will help maintain and further develop the corporate responsibility strategy in line with our environmental, social and governance targets.
You will be instrumental in making a difference to our responsible business ambitions by ensuring that we continue to manage our environmental impacts in line with our externally accredited Environmental Management System and relevant legislative disclosures.
As an proactive member of the team, you will work closely with a diverse range of colleagues across Portman Travel Group, including Clarity, to minimise risks and maximise ESG opportunities.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
Environment
- Driving sustainable practices and embedding change into the business
- Analysis and collection of data for scope 1, 2 and 3 reporting
- Input into the carbon reduction plan and activities for the business
- Support the creation of progress reporting for carbon reduction targets
- identifying and finding solutions to environmental impact problems and ensuring necessary changes are implemented.
- Facilitate internal working groups to build awareness and educate staff on ESG topics
Social Value
- Effectively manage social value reporting KPIs in line with business goals
- Engage with charities and non profit organisations to build community networks that enhance the business social value program
- Actively champion community based volunteering by supporting the business and our people to maximise volunteer uptake
- Understanding the Social Value commitments of the business and supporting in the delivery of these commitments
Governance
- Working with the business in the creation and update of all relevant polices
- Ensuring compliance to ISO standards is maintained, with involvement in internal and external audits for ISO 14001 and 50001
- Risk identification, assessment and management for related business risks
- Working with the business stakeholders to increase the sustainability of the supply chain, including supply chain assessments, data collection and supplier engagement to encourage progress
- Respond to requests for information from new and existing customers articulating Clarity’s ESG activities, targets and performance
Operational
- Maintaining good working relationships with key 3rd party suppliers relating to ESG
- Creation and maintenance of internal content to educate and inform our people on topics and activity relating to ESG.
- Keeping updated on ESG trends, frameworks, Carbon procurement and sustainable supply chain topics
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, project managers, sponsors and work stream Leaders as required to ensure relevant communication and successful delivery of necessary changes
- Ownership of a sustainability content library and creation of new content to support our people to understand and engage with ESG activity
Compliance
- Ensure that departmental processes and procedures are adhered to.
- Adhere to HR Policies and Procedures.
- Undertake mandatory training as directed.
- Safeguard clients’ and colleagues’ personal information. This includes:
- Using IT devices and systems only as instructed
- Being familiar, and complying with, data security policies made available to you
- Knowing how to recognise, and report, security incidents
- Adhere to other compliance areas such as ISO, GDPR, Health and Safety and Anti-Bribery and Corruption.
Essential
- A genuine interest in and understanding of environmental issues and relevant UK legislation.
- Passionate about Sustainability and a desire to make a positive difference, especially within the travel sector.
- An understanding of carbon calculations and offsetting methodologies
- An understanding social value and reporting metrics
- Experience in data collection and processing (preferably for carbon footprint reporting and reduction planning)
- Familiarity with global ESG regulations, guidelines, and reporting standards would be preferable but not essential.
- Experience in a similar role of minimum 1 year or relevant qualification
