About The Role And THG x Planet Earth
THG launched THG x Planet Earth, our Sustainability Strategy, in 2021 to guide us on our path to net zero and to act as a force for good in leaving the world a better place than we found it.
This role plays an important part in managing the delivery of key targets within the Circular Economy pillar of our Sustainability Strategy along with responsibility for group level packaging compliance obligations.
You will lead on various workstreams and projects across the ESG agenda, drive engagement across the group to ensure buy-in and delivery of the Sustainability Strategy and your team will manage the collection and reporting of numerous data sets to measure progress and drive sustainability initiatives across the Group.
You will report into the Director of Sustainability and have two direct reports. You will also build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels across the Group, including C-Suite.
Responsibilities:
- Drive and manage sustainability initiatives and projects to meet annual objectives, supporting delivery of the 2030 Sustainability Strategy,
- Oversee delivery of the group-wide Zero Waste Programme and other operational initiatives, aligning data collection and reporting with other workstreams to ensure optimal efficiency
- Contribute to the ongoing development of THG’s Sustainability Strategy
- Manage compliance with relevant packaging regulations across the Group, ensuring accurate and effective reporting
- Support Divisional Sustainability Managers to embed the Strategy across the Group
- Lead in the development of company-wide policies
- Provide status updates against the sustainability strategy to relevant committees and working groups, including Board level Sustainability Committee
- Represent the company and participate in internal and external working groups and forums to add value to THGs strategy and also contribute to the development of industry best practice and advocacy work
- Facilitate high level of engagement on topics related to sustainability and circular economy among all colleagues, including C-Suite=
Requirements:
- 7+ years of work experience from working within sustainability fields
- Knowledge of UK and EU packaging compliance schemes
- Understanding of circular economy principles and evidence of implementation
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and manage different teams to drive effective outcomeFlexibility to navigate the evolving landscape of sustainability regulations and market trends
- A team player who understands team objectives and workflow processes and helps others learn by distilling complex ideas into easily understood concepts
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively articulate sustainability goals and engage stakeholders at all levels (from C-suite to shop floor)
- Excellent project and time management skills
- Experience in leading teams and managing projects across a global corporate structure, with a track record of embedding change and achieving sustainability goals
