Located in the vibrant Spinningfields cultural hub, our office is ideally positioned to support the delivery of exciting projects across the city, the UK, and internationally. Our Manchester team is working on some of the most prestigious and innovative projects, ranging from sustainability-focused office and commercial premises to cutting-edge sports and leisure facilities like the Manchester Velodrome, major infrastructure and transport developments, and new residential communities.
Our Waterman Ecology team is a CIEEM Registered Ecology Practice exemplifying our depth and breadth of experience and technical excellence.
As part of our growing Ecology team, you will contribute to high-profile projects across a variety of sectors, including strategic residential developments, mixed-use sites, and large-scale infrastructure works. You will be involved in the early stages of projects, including ecological surveys, impact assessments, and the implementation of mitigation strategies, through to post-planning works.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting ecological surveys for a variety of projects.
- Delivering Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments, and protected species surveys.
- Providing technical reports, advice, and mitigation plans to clients.
- Working within a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring collaboration with colleagues from other offices and disciplines.
- Contributing to the development of ecological strategies and management plans.
- Ensuring that all projects comply with ecological legislation and planning policies.
About you: To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with:
- Full membership of CIEEM (or equivalent).
- A degree in Ecology or a related field.
- Some years experience in ecological consultancy.
- A solid understanding of ecological legislation, planning policy, and the EIA process.
- Experience with Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA).
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
