Role Overview
The Landscaping & Public Realm Manager will oversee the development and execution of a comprehensive and sustainable landscape strategy for THE LINE Landscapes, a part of THE LINE. This role combines technical expertise, design leadership, and commercial oversight to ensure the creation of world-class public spaces that are both environmentally sustainable and aligned with the innovative vision of THE LINE Landscapes.

ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
Landscape Strategy & Development
- Lead the development of a sustainable, forward-thinking landscape strategy for THE LINE, ensuring alignment with the project’s vision and sustainability goals.
- Oversee the planning, implementation, and long-term management of landscapes.
- Ensure integration of smart and sustainable technologies into landscaping features, such as water-saving irrigation, green roofs, and biodiverse planting schemes.
- Inform and develop landscaping-specific scopes, support procurement including strategic procurement, and support the overall planning process by providing knowledgeable input.
- Support the wider development team with technical and commercial advice for a successful development.
- Support the agricultural asset development team and foster relations with the appropriate sectors/consultants etc.
Development, Design & Technical Oversight
- Collaborate with master planners, architects, urban designers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of the landscape/landscaping strategy.
- Provide technical expertise to guide the overall landscaping strategy including the selection of materials, plant species, etc. promoting sustainable designs/solutions for planting and its irrigation.
- Ensure that all landscape designs meet local and international standards for safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal.
Commercial & Budget
- Develop and manage budgets for landscape-related developments/projects, ensuring cost-effective delivery while maintaining quality standards.
- Oversee procurement and contracts for landscaping-specific requirements and maintenance services like existing vegetation, ensuring adherence to timelines and financial goals.
- Support the commercial management for the landscaping-specific requirements from a business and a developer’s perspective.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with internal teams, including urban planning, engineering, and Environment, to ensure integrated and innovative landscape solutions.
- Engage with external stakeholders, including local authorities where necessary.
- Facilitate regular communication between stakeholders to ensure alignment on the development.
Land Use Management & Maintenance
- Contribute to the ongoing land use management discipline, ensuring the sustainable use of land in relation to landscaping and public realm needs and requirements.
- Support the planning of maintenance plans to ensure the long-term health and functionality of existing vegetation (where applicable).
Sustainability & Environmental Stewardship
- Ensure that landscaping practices follow sustainable guidelines, prioritizing low-impact materials, native plant species, and environmentally friendly practices.
- Lead initiatives to enhance biodiversity, reduce water consumption, and implement climate-responsive landscape strategies.
- Stay current on innovations in landscape sustainability, ensuring THE LINE remains a leader in sustainable development.

Experience & Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- 7+ years of experience in landscape development, architecture, public realm management, and/or urban
- Expertise in landscape design and management, including green infrastructure, public spaces, and ecological restoration.
- Advanced knowledge of native plant material species, techniques, and management
- Strong project management skills, with experience in budgeting, scheduling, and contractor management.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale, high-profile development projects.
- In-depth knowledge of sustainability principles, climate-resilient landscaping, and GCC/Middle East environmental regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with local and international standards for landscape and public realm design planning, with at least 5 years of experience working within the GCC/Middle East region.
- Previous experience in large-scale landscaping, conservation, and regreening initiatives is advantageous.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to manage complex, interdisciplinary projects.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, with a focus on innovation and sustainability.
- Deep understanding of the socio-cultural and environmental context of the GCC/Middle East region.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Design, Urban Planning, or a related field.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
