YOUR TEAM IS IN CHARGE OF
As our
DC Operations Specialist you will be responsible for commissioning, re- and decommissioning and maintaining Shell’s Public charging solutions. You will work in collaboration with our Shell Mobility, Engineering, and IT colleagues to deliver projects on time and first time right. You will have specialist knowledge to complete commissioning, continuous improvement projects and develop our operational processes and work closely with various internal and external stakeholders to make Shell public charging network a success. You also manage daily charger incidents. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you help to triage incidents, collaborate with fleet mobility customers (FMC) to get incidents resolved, track performance of individual chargers and sites and leverage best practices and lessons learned.
This is a role which requires technical knowledge. You will play a leading role for the UK market on behalf of Shell Recharge Solutions in delivering projects to help achieve our charging success rate (CSR) and uptime goals.
We are one team with one goal so it goes without saying that you can’t do all this without working closely with our Shell product and operations colleagues. You bring on the ground expertise and know how to deliver fully commissioned and operational charge points for our ever-growing EV retail customer base.
This Is How You Will Contribute
Your core accountabilities are to...
- Successfully deliver and project manage first time right commissioning activities alongside our Engineering Procurement Contract Management (EPCM) partners to successfully bring charge points onto our Charge Point Management System (CPMS)
- Successfully recommission or decommission chargers following changes in our network
- Responsible for the go-live of the chargers on Shell’s public network following commissioning attempts
- Build strong relationships through excellent communication with third party partners (ie Payter, Eseye/OEMs/XMO) involved in the successful rollout and maintenance of the public charging network
- Problem solving by working with internal and external stakeholders to find solutions to delivery challenges such as charger performance, payment processing failures and network connectivity issues
- Manage incidents detected by the Central Monitoring team or the local Ops team and co-ordinated by the DC Operations Coordinator, which are allocated to you for e2e L2 problem solving and driving lessons learned
- Understanding of OCPP to diagnose error codes and provide technical knowledge to deliver corrective action
- Retrieve and analyse data to assess KPIs involving CSR and uptime
- Investigate root cause failures, apply the correct terminology for these failures, and respectfully allocate responsibility to the party required to implement the solutions
- Some travel to Shell forecourts and destination sites for testing, commissioning, and maintenance
- Strong knowledge and use of MS Office, especially Microsoft Excel

Success will be when you...
- You actively contribute to first time right commissioned forecourt and destination charge points within expected SLAs
- Provide support for maintenance visits when engineers are on site to ensure corrective works have had the desired impact
- You manage local incidents effectively and work across multi-disciplinary teams to fix and structurally improve charger performance
- You improve processes for not only your team but other parts of the install and maintenance process aiming to enhance key metrics such as CSR and uptime
- You effectively contribute to Continuous Improvement projects
The DC Operations Specialist is able to do this in close cooperation and good harmony with the local Shell Mobility team and stakeholders where they must be constantly aware of the development of products and services within Shell and Shell Recharge Solutions.
Job requirements
THE PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Has a minimum of 2 years of working experience in a similar role in a B2B market
- Experience in an Agile setting with process management, process design, and improvement would be advantageous
- Electrical engineering education/knowledge is a plus
- You are highly analytical and ensure you are factual, diplomatic, and specific to prove your point with accurate data
- Can work in a highly structured, organized, and strategic manner
- Is goal and outcome oriented and able to translate plans into action.
- Fluency in English (C1) is a must
- Driving license is a plus
