Job purpose:
The site managers should take ultimate control for site activities and progress on a specific project. At times there will be a need to monitor a 2nd site remotely through the supervisors/ number 2’s. The site manager is required to work alongside the Project Manager to ensure the project is delivered on time, safely and to the highest quality.
Essential Qualifications:
· Valid UK driving license
· CSCS card
· SMSTS
· First Aid at Work
HNC in Construction & The Built Environment (or equivalent qualification) preferred but not required.

What you’ll be doing:
- Health and safety enforcement on site
- Ensuring all operatives are inducted to site and paperwork is up to date.
- Day to day site contact for deliveries.
- Monitoring and enforcing signing in procedure.
- Ensuring site health and safety file is up to date (chase PM/support staff where required).
- Monitoring of deliveries and materials storage.
- Material management to ensure adequate supplies on site for trades.
- Liaison with client site team to ensure adequate communication regarding the programmed works.
- 1st line of programme management.
- Placing of top up orders where required (partitioning, timber and building materials for example) with support from the office. Must obtain quote for office to order against.
- Labour management including keeping of time sheets and signing off invoices. Labour requirements to be reports to CM for tracking and monitoring. Any additional requirements are to be filled by the SM and are not the responsibility of the PM. The PM may assist when needed.
- Provide presence in site progress meeting to provide support to PM for site-based items.
- Maintain site diary tracking delays to programme, changes to instructed works, absences from site.
- Assist the PM with cost management by advising of any additional works/costs.
- Agree and monitor set limits for labour and adhoc materials being used on site.
- Flag potential missed items with PM for actioning as early as possible.
- Daily planning for weeks activities to ensure items completed.
- Flag requirement for weekend works as and when necessary.
- Provide site coverage and ensure security, this would include monitoring use of hoardings, lock down at night, prevention of unauthorised access.
- Ensure good housekeeping across all aspects of works. Including site and public areas. Housekeeping to be monitored for sub-contractors. Responsibility for clean-up notices falls onto the SM.
- Ensure a high-level site set up and monitor to ensure this stays sufficient, may include but not limited to:
- Site notice boards
- Signage
- Health and safety folder
- Site welfare
- Visitors PPE
- Changing area if required.
Location and hours of work:
This role is a full-time, 07:00-16:00, site-based position. Our projects tend to be located across Greater Manchester.
