SRG are currently working with a leading manufacturer of alloys, and ceramic materials used predominantly in the aerospace, nuclear and motorsport industries. With a global presence and a portfolio of growing products, they are now looking to hire a Process Development Scientist to join their technical team in Greater Manchester. This role will involve working in conjunction with materials scientists and supporting in improving the understanding of materials and production processes. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be expected to provide insights into material properties and how these can be controlled, as well as lead troubleshooting efforts to assist with production issues. This role will play a key role in understanding new opportunities and products, improving sustainability, as well as improving product quality and yield. Candidates with recent industrial experience of improving and developing production processes are encouraged to apply, especially if they have a background in Chemistry or Material Science.

Role/Description
- Develop a technical understanding of production processes and materials, building knowledge of the effect of process parameters on material properties.
- Extraction, analysis and presentation of data using appropriate software tools (including Origin Pro, JMP etc) and use these to provide solutions to the manufacturing team.
- Support and enable the manufacturing team with tools to drive process improvements and developments.
- Lead cross-functional projects to develop and roll out new products and/or processes, carry out production trials and troubleshoot issues.
- Develop insights into the effect of raw materials in our processes and identify improvement opportunities.
- Lead role in resolving production issues outside typical day to day operation.
- Provide reports and insights on process performance and recommendations for enhancement.
- Build and maintain processes that can adapt quickly to new technologies and customer requirements.
- Research industry trends and emerging technologies to incorporate best practices and find opportunities.
- Identify and lead process improvements to provide more sustainable manufacturing.
Requirements
- Educated to degree level within a scientific discipline (Chemistry or Material Science desirable)
- Recent and proven industrial experience of manufacturing process support or process optimisation
- Proactive problem solver
- Excellent planning and organisation skills
- Experience of working on multiple projects simultaneously
