Are you an experienced Facilities and Maintenance Technician based in Portsmouth?
CMS2, a specialist equipment manufacturer supplying maritime atmosphere control systems and support services, are looking for a Technician to join the team. CMS2 is part of the Science Group, an international science, engineering and technology (“SET”) business providing a range of services to the medical, defence, industrial, food & beverage and consumer sectors
The Opportunity
The Facilities and Maintenance Technician will join the central Science Group Facilities team on our Portsmouth site. The individual in this role will be responsible for maintaining the fabric of the building and plant equipment, liaising with contractors, ensuring Health and Safety compliance and any other general duties required. The successful candidate will be happy to travel to the Group’s other UK locations from time to time.
Key Responsibilities
- Build effective working relationships at all levels with peers and colleagues within other departments, internal and external and customers & suppliers
- Work in a safe manner and observe the relevant rules and regulations in relation to the Health and Safety at Work Act, whilst taking responsibility for your health, safety and welfare and that of anyone affected by your acts and omissions at work
- Follow all company and or statutory rules and procedures provided for your safety and security
- Organise and plan your daily work schedule and prioritise when needed
- Contribute to the on-going safe and well maintained state of the premises by carrying out maintenance tasks
- Provide planned and reactive maintenance around the site
- Assist with the set-up of conference and meeting rooms
- Assist the Group Facilities Manager as required
- In conjunction with the Group Facilities Manager, carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues
- Daily and weekly fire checks
- Accompany contractors on-site as required and ensure appropriate permits to work are completed
- Help plan and oversee all repair and installation activities in conjunction with Group Facilities Manager and Maintenance Company
- Keep appropriate maintenance logs and provide feedback to Group Facilities Manager on daily activities
- Undertake manual handling tasks as required
- Carry out all tasks assigned in a professional, timely and responsible manner
- Work in an efficient manner in order to maximise resources, reduce costs and increase profitability
- Undertake any reasonable tasks or responsibility requested by your line manager or a member of the Executive team.
Experience Required
- Multi skilled engineer with good technical knowledge of commercial systems
- Ability and willingness to assist across a broad range of maintenance activities
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Excellent organisation and record keeping skills appropriate to the role
- Basic health & Safety knowledge
- Integrity/honesty, hardworking
Hours
- Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm
Uniform
- A uniform will not be provided for this role although it is expected that the individual will wear clothing appropriate to the tasks listed above
