What You Will Be Doing
As a degree apprentice working within Maritime Services, you will provide technology enabled solutions to internal and/or external customers, in a range of specialist areas.
During this four-year Degree Apprenticeship you will be supported to develop, install, configure, test and maintain our systems ensuring the highest level of quality and service. Alongside this, you will study for a degree that will enhance your knowledge skills and behaviours around the technologies used within your placements.
Our Level 6 apprenticeship scheme offers you the opportunity to collaborate across teams, developing your technical and digital skills whilst working towards a Digital Technology Solutions Integrated Degree Apprenticeship, specialising in either Software Engineering , Business or Data Analysis, Cyber Security, or Network Engineering.
During the first two years on scheme you will rotate through 4 six monthly placements to get a breadth of the specialism areas and towards the end of the 2nd year you will be support by the business, to select an area of specialism.

Specific Activities Could Include (not Limited To)
- Helping the Security Operations of the company run efficiently and effectively
- Assisting with audit activities
- Completing risk assessments
- Quality assurance for IT systems
- Assisting with the creation of security documents for different projects and devices
- Writing quality code for plugins, and to implement new features on test harnesses.
- Assisting with the creation of deployment guide documents for the systems
- Factory acceptance testing of software systems
- Equipment setup for development and deployment
- Research into software solutions that could be used for projects
- Agile development process using Jira to progress through projects
- On ship deployment of software systems for real life use
What Qualification will you get?
By The End Of The Apprenticeship You Will Obtain
- BSc (Honours) in Digital and Technology Solutions, with a specialism to be agreed with the business at the end of year 2.
- At the end of the apprenticeship you will obtain a nationally recognised Apprenticeship Completion Certificate

Export Control / Security
Please be aware that many roles at BAE Systems are subject to both security and export control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
Qualification Requirements
5 GCSE A*-C or 9-4 (or equivalent) Including Maths, English & Science or Technical Subject
A minimum of 96 UCAS Tariff Points (240 point old system)(excluding UCAS points gained at AS level) achieved from
either:
– A levels at grade C or above (Or equivalent). One subject must be Maths and one subject must be in Engineering, Science or a Technical subject.
– A STEM based Level 3 Extended BTEC Diploma (which meets the required UCAS points) or equivalent.
