Chemical Engineer - Remote with travel - £51,000 to £65,000
National Gas has an exciting and important role in net zero and in leading a fair energy transition for the UK. We will do this by developing the green gas system of tomorrow, while delivering the natural gas needs of today.
About the role:
Join National Gas Transmission and play a vital role in shaping the future of energy. As owners and operators of the UK’s high-pressure gas pipeline network, we deliver essential power and warmth to millions of households and businesses while driving forward our commitment to Net Zero.
We're looking for talented Chemical Engineers with exceptional technical expertise and interpersonal skills to help us operate safely, efficiently, and sustainably as we introduce hydrogen into the network and support carbon capture efforts.
In this role, you’ll work alongside a team of professionals while taking ownership of your own responsibilities. You’ll apply your Chemical Engineering knowledge to ensure project designs are safe, rigorously assessed, and aligned with best practices. You’ll engage in team studies like HAZOP and LOPA, collaborate with operations personnel to ensure asset safety and compliance, and investigate incidents to ensure lessons are learned.
As an authority in Process Safety, you’ll take a proactive technical leadership role, shaping safety policy and defining “Best Practice” standards across legislation, codes, and practices. With access to job-relevant training opportunities, this is a chance to grow professionally while contributing to a safer, cleaner energy future. Join us and help power the UK’s transition to Net Zero.
You can be based anywhere within England, Scotland or Wales, however you must be willing to travel to our sites for meetings and projects on a regular basis. We will, of course, cover your travel expenses.
What we're looking for:
Essential -
- Experience working in a technical environment
- Demonstratable technical ability
- Experience in solving problems associated with the design and operations of gas transmission assets
- Track record of problem solving and delivering solutions
- Experience working independently but also with multiple teams across a broad range of disciplines
- Chartered or working towards chartership in an engineering discipline
- Full UK car driving licence
Desirable -
- Experience within major accident hazard operations
What we can offer you:
