RSK has exciting opportunities for a
QGIS Engineer in the Geosciences business who currently provide Geotechnical and Geo-environmental consultancy to support our clients in a wide range of sectors including property and construction, civil engineering, oil and gas, nuclear, renewable energy and the public sector in the UK.
We are now looking to recruit a QGIS Engineer to work full time / hybrid in one of the following offices following -
Bristol, Coventry, Derby, Hemel Hempstead, Helsby or Manchester.
The ideal candidate will have an enthusiastic attitude toward learning and the flexibility to adapt to new challenges. We welcome candidates with a CAD background, QGIS knowledge desirable but not essential.
Responsibilities
Working with and reporting to the CAD manager, the successful candidate will be expected to:
- Work day-to-day in a small CAD / QGIS team within the RSK Geosciences division, helping engineering staff by producing high quality drawings for their projects.
- Daily contact with engineering staff to approve drawings and react to changes in deadlines.
- Although the majority of drawings will be 2D an understanding of 3D drawing would be beneficial.
- Be able to deliver work on time and prioritise workload.
Experience
- Comprehensive working knowledge of QGIS is required and good general computing skills.
- Have a good knowledge in the use of computer software such as Excel, Word and Teams.
- Great oral and written skills.
- Thinking and reasoning skills, with the ability to use your own initiative.
- Knowledge of BS1192 and ISO19650 desirable but not essential.
- Have some knowledge of QGIS (desirable but not essential) or being willing to learn it.
- You will be encouraged to identify and undertake a personal project that utilises skills you have developed, that can be linked to personal interests and is of benefit to the wider RSK Group. This could be exploring new opportunities or research projects in collaboration with another RSK business or 3rd party (with benefit to RSK), or involvement in an area of RSK Geosciences.
- In addition to the typical duties and responsibilities listed above, the job holder may be required to perform other related duties as necessary to the strategic implementation of the business plan of RSK.

- £24,000 to £27,000 commensurate with experience
