Wind Turbine Technician: Various Locations available across the UK (Including England, Wales and Scotland)
Due to unprecedented growth in our UK wind turbine service and maintenance business, Realise Energy Services Ltd are looking for an experienced and capable individual to join our existing team in order to strengthen and extend our wind turbine installation, supply and operation and maintenance service team.
The Role: Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for keeping clients’ wind turbine equipment running smoothly, this involves maintaining, testing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical equipment of the turbine. The role is built on the key areas of teamwork, motivation, high quality standards and ensuring good workmanship, communication and reporting will be key to your success. The role as a Wind Turbine Technician will involve a considerable amount of travel and time away from home on a weekly basis primarily driving to sites, mostly to relatively remote locations. You will have sound technical wind energy expertise and your dedication and professionalism will be instrumental in promoting the transition to clean energy solutions in the UK.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
• Carry out scheduled and unscheduled servicing and maintenance, wind turbine inspections, fault finding and repair on a range of wind turbines and their electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
• Follow a weekly and monthly schedule of works as well as annual service schedules as prescribed by the operations manager, including approved overtime and working away from home if necessary to support the operations team as required to meet the business requirements
• Replace faulty components, such as sensors, control systems and gearboxes following established procedures and safety processes
• Carry out preventive maintenance tasks based on manufacturer guidelines to minimise downtime and maximise turbine efficiency
• Ensure you have sufficient supplies of parts and consumables available to carry out your duties and be responsible for keeping an up-to-date list of stock, tools and equipment in your vehicle
• Monitor and analyse turbine performance data to identify trends and potential areas for improvement
• Produce work, service and inspection reports and recording findings as per the reporting systems in a timely and accurate manner
• Assist with refurbishment of wind turbines and their components
• Ensure work is undertaken in an efficient and timely manner to meet Company contractual deadlines and financial goals
• Ensure tasks are actioned with a logical, organised, and systematic manner
• Ensure all work is undertaken in line with the latest health and safety guidance and site rules and regulations and ensure you keep yourself up to date with relevant new guidance that is issued
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all sites through documentation and discussion with the operations team
• Where possible, anticipate potential problems in respect of specific sites and identify potential solutions to any technical issues you observe in the field
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines at all times to ensure a secure working environment for you and your colleagues
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of maintenance activities, repairs and parts inventories
• You will be required to travel on a regular basis and travel to other sites in England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland as required
• The candidate is expected to work to further the aims of company and to comply with the company’s policies and procedures

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Essential:
• A relevant technical qualification in electrical, mechanical or renewable energy engineering
• Proven experience in a similar technician role within renewable energy or wind energy industry
• Demonstrate ability to supervise meetings/teams/projects with an organised and methodical approach
• Experience in team building, motivating, and building employee satisfaction & development
• Great spoken and written communication skills in English
• A proven track record in mechanical and/or electrical engineering, with good solid evidence of fault finding and problem solving
• You should be able to deliver your work to a high standard and in a professional manner in line with your experience
• You should be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, regularly and in a professional manner with managers, clients and contractors as appropriate
• Candidates are required to pass a RUK wind industry standard medical assessment to ensure they are fit and able to work at heights and perform the role of wind turbine technician
• Be willing and able to travel on a regular basis, including nights away from home if required
• Computer and tablet literate and able to use Microsoft Office- outlook etc
• Comfortable working at heights and in varying weather conditions
• Full UK Driving License for travel to different wind turbine sites as required
Desirable Certifications and Experience:
• GWO Working at Height
• GWO Manual Handling
• GWO First Aid
• GWO Fire Awareness
• Experience working with the 225kW to 3MW range of wind turbines
• Wind Turbine Safety Rules training
• Competent with using access platforms
• Experience with problem solving
• Awareness of HV switchgear
An attractive remuneration package, commensurate with experience:
• Salary - £30k - £45k
• 30 days holiday rising annually to 35 days after 5 years
