Software Developer / Data Engineer – London, UK
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a
Software Developer / Data Engineer, with around of 2 years of experience, to build up their knowledge in commodities and risk management and become an integral member of the Engelhart's IT team.
This role provides a
hybrid working environment with flexibility, and will be based in our London office on Berkeley Square House for office days.
The person will develop and maintain Market Risk and Finance systems built using the latest technology stack. Working in collaboration with a small dynamic team, there will be opportunities to influence the technology landscape of the company and deliver business changing initiatives.
The successful candidate will operate with a large degree of autonomy, taking ownership of projects, from understanding requirements, to production deployment and support.
The end goal is to support business needs and help form best decisions in the newly formed group between
Engelhart Commodities Trading Partners & Trailstone. This is currently achieved with Agile methodology and a lot of teamwork in a delivery-oriented group that fosters both technical and business discussions, always seeking continuous improvement in results.
This will be a full-time role, owning the following
responsibilities:
- Develop understanding of business needs and work closely with Risk and Finance teams as well as the Front Office to develop and maintain market risk models.
- Support to the Risk, Finance and Front Office teams in the usage of common internal Python libraries, cloud resources and access to existing data.
- Development of new visualizations for our in-house dashboards.
- Data cleansing, enrichment and transformation using most efficient
- Data integration through services or query interfaces for internal consumption.
- Maintenance of existing data pipelines and databases.
- Contribute to projects in support of business initiatives.
About You
This person will be comfortable operating in a small team with a high degree of autonomy. To best set this individual up for success, the following
experiences and skills are required:
- Proficiency in Python and common analytical libraries (Pandas, Numpy, Plotly etc).
- Experience with ETL processes and Python WebAPI frameworks.
- Experience with MS SQL databases.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes / Docker Containers.
- Familiarity with AWS (Lambda, S3, API Gateway).
- Knowledge of parallel data processing concepts.
In addition to the above required skill set, the following supplementary experiences and skills are highly desirable:
- Experience with Commodities or Financial Markets.
- Experience with RAD / Agile methods;
- Experience with RabbitMQ.
- Experience with DevOps Pipelines and GIT source code repository
- Logical reasoning, analytical capability and organization.
- Team player with good interpersonal skills and ability to work with remote teams.
- Willingness to share with and learn from other team members.
- Proactive & able to work independently with minimal supervision.
