Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our rapidly growing team of engineers and technologists. The successful candidate will work on developing, deploying, and optimizing machine learning models that contribute directly to performance enhancement in various high-stakes applications, from motorsports to defence.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for AI/ML and a deep understanding of model architectures, with experience in applying them to real-world problems in engineering or other relevant domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy advanced machine learning models to optimize performance in various high-stakes applications, including predictive analytics and operational enhancements across a wide spectrum of sectors.
- Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and domain experts to translate business needs into technical solutions through machine learning.
- Build and maintain machine learning infrastructure, including data pipelines, model versioning, and deployment frameworks, ensuring robust and scalable production systems.
- Optimize model performance for real-time decision-making in high-performance environments, such as race strategy in motorsports or predictive maintenance in defence.
- Handle and manipulate large-scale datasets, including 3D point cloud and mesh data, to extract key insights and drive engineering innovation.
- Continuously research and implement cutting-edge machine learning algorithms and techniques to maintain our competitive edge in the industry.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior machine learning engineers, ensuring best practices in model development and deployment are followed.
Preferred Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field; PhD preferred.
- 5+ years of experience working with machine learning models and algorithms in a production environment.
- Expertise in deep learning, computer vision, and reinforcement learning techniques, particularly in relation to engineering applications.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and other ML frameworks.
- Deep knowledge of software engineering principles and best practices (e.g., version control, testing, CI/CD, API design, MLOps).
- Experience handling and manipulating 3D point cloud and mesh data.
- Proven track record of successfully deploying ML models into production environments in high-performance settings.
- Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and high-performance computing environments.
- Expertise in containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external clients.
- A proven ability to scope and deliver projects effectively.
- Familiarity with industry standards, security protocols, and best practices.
Desirable Knowledge & Experience:
- Experience in industries such as motorsports, automotive, aerospace, or defence, where high-stakes decisions rely on data-driven insights.
- Hands-on experience with AI in control systems or real-time decision-making environments.
- Experience with simulations involving FEA, CFD, vehicle dynamics, or electromechanical systems is advantageous but not required.
- Familiarity with the Julia programming language is a plus but not essential.
