Diversity
We're an equal opportunity employer, dedicated to building a diverse workforce and fostering an inclusive environment, where everyone can thrive and be their authentic selves at work. We recognise that the climate crisis intersects with social and inclusion issues, and we're particularly eager to receive applications from individuals who bring diverse perspectives, including people of colour, the LGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities, neurodivergent individuals, parents, carers, and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds. We also value different experiences and encourage applicants whose backgrounds may not exactly match the criteria in the job description to apply.
About The Role
As part of our expansion, we'll be opening our Central Manchester workspace - in the Renold Building - in November. Just a 10min walk from Manchester Piccadilly, this will be our second, full-service workspace; a thriving hub focused on supporting climate-tech startups. Our plans are to replicate our London headquarters, where our ecosystem members can work, network, and access investment and support, to drive their purpose-driven enterprises.
Reporting into our Northern Director, you'll be our first workspace-focused hire in Manchester, responsible for the management and delivery of this operation, working alongside our regional team. Your first, key priority will be to run the café and bar operation, as this will be open to occupants of the Renold building, ahead of our first official opening. Over the coming months, as we fill memberships over three floors, you'll be involved in the hiring of key Workspace direct reports to manage membership sales, run events, and hospitality.

- Running the café/bar (serving customers, 11am - 2pm, Mon-Fri during the first 6m of operation), maintaining stock and inventory management, delivering against budgeted revenue targets - these are the priorities for the first few months of operations.
- Setting up our workspace operations - in coordination, and collaboration, with our Workspace Director and in line with our Operations Playbook. This includes setting up the office management platform, onboarding, access control for hot-desking and lost property procedures, room booking management, building checks, agreeing food and beverage standards, H&S compliance and fire and risk assessments
- Team day-to-day management - this will include recruiting our team, as we ramp up our services
- Facilities management - including health and safety, sustainability, IT, and security operations
- Contributing to office and desk space sales, and providing sales tours - working in collaboration with our London Sales and Events Managers

About Sustainable Ventures
We're Europe's largest ecosystem of climate tech startups. Following our recent expansion of our Central London headquarters, we're focused on our mission to develop 1000 new businesses by 2025, and expand our operations across UK regions.
Our impact on the planet's climate and its natural resources is being felt more often and by more people than ever before. It is clear that significant changes must be made to achieve the targets set by the IPCC and reach Net Zero by 2050. This presents the world's biggest challenge and it is something that SV has been addressing since 2011.
We believe in the power of commercial innovation to address the twin challenges of climate change and resource scarcity.
