Role Overview
The Senior Environmental Manager will work closely with the various design and construction teams to mitigate the impacts of projects on the surrounding environment and activities, ensuring compliance with authorities' requirements. The ideal candidate will have a rich background in developing and implementing Environmental Management Systems, especially in the context of large infrastructure, built environments and mega construction projects.
Requirements Summary
- Work within the NEOM’s Environmental Management System focusing on the project's environmental goals, in coordination with various project departments, and use established mechanism and integrated approach to achieve the established objectives
- Understanding ISO 14001 compliant Environmental Management Systems as well as IFC performance standards requirement.
- Ensuring continued alignment of THE LINE’s environmental planning and approval systems with IFC performance standards and international best practice
- Lead initiatives focusing on environmental compliance, management of air quality, water, noise and waste, resource efficiency, biodiversity, carbon, and environmental site inspection programs. Establish systems to deliver world-class risk and environmental value service to clients and adapt to develop and implement Environmental performance and risk management systems.
ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES
The Senior Environmental Manager responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Stakeholder Management
- Work with the Sustainability professionals to drive energy management and carbon reduction for construction activities.
- Develop and support the implementation of internal audit protocols, inspections, and work with team to obtain necessary permits for environmental compliance.
- Support external and internal communications on environmental related topics.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to develop appropriate environmental reporting systems and provide periodic site performance overview to executive leadership and stakeholders
- Work with teams to monitor new/changing regulations assuring compliance and monitoring requirement.
- Review and implement environmental policies and programs, ensuring compliance with authorities' requirements.
- Overseeing the Environmental Assessment process at the project level including procurement and day to day coordination of project timelines and deliverables, acting as an interface between NEOM’s internal sectors, external stakeholders, and external Environmental Consultants.
- Overseeing Environmental Consultants engaged to produce marine and terrestrial baseline surveys, ESIAs, and other environmental assessment related document
- Review and assessment of technical environmental assessment reports and documentation submitted by Environmental Consultants, in line with NEOM policy and planning objectives.
- Engage with NEOM Environmental Sector, Design Consultants, Construction Contractors throughout the design review cycle and construction to monitor compliance to environmental requirements.
- Review the design and construction submissions to ensure compliance of applicable environmental
- requirements.
- Provide technical and administrative guidance to assigned team members, including consultants, in the management of the relevant activities
- Support CSR efforts to implement environmental initiatives into business operations and community engagement.
Change Management
- Stay informed about best practices in stakeholder management and apply them to enhance engagement strategies.
- Seek feedback from stakeholders to continuously improve the quality of engagement and communication.
- Promote transparency and accountability in all interactions with stakeholders.
- Identify potential risks associated with the change and develop strategies to mitigate them
- Develop a strategy that outlines the approach, resources and timelines for implementing the change.
Project Management
- Provide regular reports to senior management on stakeholder engagement status, risks, and opportunities.
- Use feedback and data to refine and improve stakeholder management strategies.
- Coordinate stakeholder involvement in projects, ensuring their feedback is integrated into planning and decision-making processes.
- Track and monitor stakeholder engagement activities and their impact on project outcomes.

Experience & Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- 15+ years of relevant experience in environmental assessments, management, and approvals under an advanced regulatory system on major capital programs
- Proven experience in developing Environmental Management Systems
- Demonstrated ability to advocate for necessary controls and navigate complex team dynamics.
- Strong technical environmental skills across marine or terrestrial built and natural environments.
- Proven record of successfully coordinating environmental assessments or regulatory approvals.
- Familiarity with local, national and international environmental regulations and standards

- Experience in KSA and/ or GCC preferred
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, or any other related field.
- Master’s degree in an environmentally related discipline preferred
