We are seeking a dynamic H&S Manager to join our Operations team based from our Wigan Facility where we manufacture industry-leading fire-resistant products.

Your Remit:
To coordinate all health and safety aspects within our Wigan site. The successful candidate will ensure continued compliance with relevant H&S regulations and standards, while also auditing and developing internal standards and operations. This role requires functional management at the process level to maintain a safe working environment for all employees. Key duties include:
- Control and manage all health and safety matters within the Wigan site, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.
- Create, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies, ensuring adherence to all applicable legislation and regulations.
- Ensure ongoing awareness and compliance with Group Safety Cardinal Rules, as well as local operating permits and relevant health and safety legislation.
- Review and maintain all necessary H&S documents, including risk assessments, COSHH, and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW). Identify potential hazards and implement effective control measures.
- Develop and deliver health and safety training programs tailored to employees at all levels, promoting awareness and safe practices.
- Lead investigations into workplace accidents and incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on safety performance, including incident statistics, trends, and areas for improvement.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans, ensuring all staff are trained and equipped to respond effectively in emergencies.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement in health and safety practices throughout the organisation.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including department heads, employees, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to promote a safe working environment.
If you bring this...
- Experience: A Health & Safety professional with at least 5 years of experience in the manufacturing or chemical industry, who has strong regulatory knowledge, leadership abilities, and expertise in safety management software.
- Person: A proactive, detail-oriented individual with strong problem-solving skills, who is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive workplace, and can efficiently manage tasks while challenging processes with a hands-on, positive approach.
- Technical: Degree-qualified in Occupational Health and Safety with Level 6 NeBOSH/NCRQ, IOSH membership at Grad/Certified level, and ideally working towards CMIOSH; ISO Lead Auditor certification would be advantageous however not essential.
