We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Hardware Specialist, with a strong understanding of the EV market to join the Osprey Operations team.
The Hardware Specialist will play a key role in ensuring the seamless operation of Osprey’s EV charging network. This wide-ranging role requires a proactive and inquisitive individual who can not only manage and test charger hardware but also work across the entire ecosystem required to operate a charge point network. This includes, but is not limited to, payment terminals, metering systems, communication solutions, CCTV, and firmware. A strong electrical background is advantageous.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Hardware Testing & Verification:
- To develop and refine existing tools and methodologies for hardware verification, to complete on-site testing, and to collaborate with OEMs to ensure Osprey procure the best and most reliable hardware.
- To oversee the integration and functionality of the entire charging ecosystem, including communication and metering systems, payment terminals, CCTV and firmware, amongst other things, and seek to understand what works well and what could be improved within these systems.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including Development, Product, Tech, and Network teams, to ensure the successful implementation and operation of charge point projects.
- Identify and address the needs of different departments to ensure that uptime, reliability, and customer experience are always the highest priorities.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
- Actively seek to innovate and improve existing hardware and processes to enhance customer experience and align with the company’s business strategy.
- Stay informed about new and improved technologies in the EV charging industry and assess their potential integration into our ecosystem.
- Communication & Strategic Thinking:
- Present complex technical problems and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate across multiple teams, balancing and considering diverse priorities when evaluating and implementing strategies.

- Issue Resolution & Reporting:

- To be able to generate regular reports and updates for clients and internal stakeholders, highlighting project progress, key performance indicators, and areas for improvement. You will be involved in weekly update meetings whereby reports and necessary updates will be shared.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Proven experience in hardware testing and verification, particularly within the electric vehicle charging sector.
- Experience of installing EV charger hardware and the broader charging ecosystem is an advantage.
- Electrical knowledge is a significant advantage.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a strategic mindset, including experience working with external companies to resolve issues efficiently, should they arise.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate, convey complex information clearly, and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Procurement experience an advantage.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools, including CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Willingness to travel within the UK as required to test and trial new hardware.
- Valid UK driver’s license.
