// Project Engineer
We are looking for a solar PV Project engineer to join the Bristol office. You’ll work with a project planner, project manager and our on-site project leads. This position is ideal for someone with a strong technical background in solar energy and a passion for renewable energy solutions.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
// Key responsibilities
You’ll be involved in all stages of an installation project, from inception to completion:
Project planning and design
- Support with conducting solar PV surveys to assess electrical infrastructure, points of connection and roof condition and develop a detailed scope of works and materials lists.
- Assist with quotations and tenders.
- Collaborate with the project manager and clients to develop and refine project designs and technical specifications.
- Manage grid approvals.
- Resource planning – estimating and procuring necessary materials, tools, and equipment.
- Assist project leads with putting job packs together.
Project implementation
- Provide technical support and expertise to project managers and project leads.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Communicate and coordinate with project planner and project leads to ensure alignment and efficient project execution.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to solar PV systems during project implementation.
- Document and track technical issues, and resolutions in the project management system.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of technical documentation, project plans, and support guides.
Project completion and monitoring
- Assist project leads with developing handover packs.
- Monitor the performance of installed solar PV systems to ensure optimal operation and efficiency.
// Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in technical support, project management, or a related role within the solar PV industry.
- Strong understanding of solar PV systems, components, and their operations.
- Experience conducting surveys (desirable)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
- Proficient in using project management and diagnostic tools and software applications related to solar PV systems.
- CAD experience (desirable)
- Proficiency in the use of MS Office, in particular Excel Spreadsheets.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Applicants should be self-motivated and capable of working on their own initiative in a fast paced environment.
- A genuine interest in the environment and/or renewable energy.
// Preferred qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Project Management, or a related field is preferred but not required. Candidates with sufficient experience are encouraged to apply.
