We are currently recruiting for a Development Engineer, but what does this person look like to us?
You would ideally have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and may have studied a green technology. You would also have a real bias for development, enjoy or have an interest in understanding how things work and also how to assemble them (or a curiosity in taking them apart to achieve this!) Having a knowledge of heat pumps, functionality and operation, would also be useful.
Position Summary
Development of new and existing products to ensure cost effective solutions to meet customer, regulatory and manufacturing requirements as defined in the design brief.
The Development Engineer will be responsible for :
- Product development and continuous improvement of products to suit both internal and external manufacturing processes.
- Support the Innovation Team through product lifecycle from concept to launch including :
Ideas - Design Brief - Concept - Prototype - Feasibility - APQP - Detail Design - Validation -Launch
1. Investigate new technologies and manufacturing processes to incorporate into new and existing designs
2. Experience of SolidWorks or AutoCAD design software would be advantageous to create design drawings.
3. Liaise with external manufacturers and suppliers to establish specification and cost of specialised equipment.
4. Knowledge and experience of renewable energy would be advantageous
5. Be hands on and able to use tools to assemble and test products.
6. Work with Senior Engineers on new concepts, feasibility and cost justifications.
7. Verify and validate solutions, ensuring that they meet the brief requirements.
8. Attend project and design review meeting to ensure that designs are progressed in accordance with concept to launch process.
9. Ensure all documentation is recorded electronically in a professional manner to ensure data retrieval and maintain traceability to satisfy the requirements of ISO 9001 quality standards.
10. Consider new technologies to ensure cost effective and innovative product advancements to meet building regulations and industry standards.
11. Support production and sales departments with regard to technical enquiries.
12. Assist the engineering team with the development and implementation of new products, improvement projects and cost reduction.
