Cranleigh STEM has partnered with an innovative start-up working in the energy storage industry who are recruiting a Chemical Engineer to join its team based in Cheltenham. Acting as their Chemical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the scale up of the company’s novel sustainable technology.
Chemical Engineer Responsibilities
- Develop and implement models to simulate the behaviour of chemical reactors under various conditions
- Work towards the build of the company’s demonstrator – managing FEED projects.
- Analyse gas flow dynamics to optimise performance and efficiency
- Design and processes for temperature measurement and control within the reactor environment
- Support efforts in syngas cleanup and carbon dioxide separation, proposing innovative solutions to enhance process efficiency
- Collaborate with the research team to troubleshoot process-related issues and implement continuous improvement strategies
- Provide technical expertise to support the scaling-up of our carbon-negative technology, ensuring it meets industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Document all design work and process improvements meticulously, contributing to innovation and patent applications as required
Chemical Engineer Requirements
- Degree qualification in Chemical Engineer, Process Engineering or closely related.
- Proven experience working on medium to large-scale projects
- FEED project experience
- Strong experience in modelling and simulation of chemical processes, particularly reactor behaviour, gas flows, and temperature control
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities, capable of conveying complex technical information clearly and concisely
- Passion for sustainability and climate technology innovations
- Experience with ASPEN, SolidWorks is highly desired
