EQUANS is looking for a Highway Maintenance Technician to join our team in Grimsby. This is a permanent role working full time hours plus overtime. On offer is a competitive salary between £28,000 - £29,500 depending on skills and experience and benefits package.

Under delegated powers, Equans are required to undertake effective and systematic regimes of inspection, assessment and maintenance of the highway network to ensure the local authority discharges its statutory duty under the Highways Act 1980. The post holder is responsible, on a daily basis, for inspecting, assessing and prioritising reactive maintenance works on the Public Highway and for identifying planned maintenance works on the highway. The post holder will be responsible for supervision of the highway inspection team.Investigation of possible breaches of planning and highway legislation in accordance with national and local policy and procedures
General Overview:
- To supervise the Highway Inspection Team to deliver programmes of inspections and assessment to ensure that North East Lincolnshire Council discharges its statutory duty for the maintenance of the public highway.
- To identify programmes of minor maintenance works to ensure the highway infrastructure is safe for users and protected as a valuable asset for the future.
- To investigate third party insurance claims and provide detailed records and evidence for North East Lincolnshire’s Insurers, Loss Adjusters and Solicitors to comply with strict Legal Protocols.
- To undertake winter service decision making duties

Who are we looking for?
- Applicants must have strong experience in highway inspection and/or other highway related disciplines
- Qualified to HND / HNC (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or relevant associated discipline
- Applicants should have some experience of supervising a small team of staff or have experience of training or mentoring others
- Applicants must be self-motivated and be able to work unsupervised
- Applicants must be able to demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development
- Member of the Institute of Highway Engineers
- Full Driving Licence and car available for use
