We are building the world’s largest plant to produce green ammonia at scale, providing humankind with a cost-efficient solution that will accelerate the worldwide green hydrogen economy. Located in NEOM and supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, NGHC will be integrating up to 4GW of onshore solar and wind energy to supply up to 650 tons of green ammonia per day for transportation globally. Operations will go onstream in 2026. Reports To: Maintenance Engineer - Solar
Liaise/Cooperate With: NGHC PWEs O&M Team, OEMs, Contractors, APEPC Team, EPMS Team-NGHC EHS Team, GHE O&M & EHS Team.
POSITION SUMMARY
Electrical Maintenance Technician shall be responsible for maintenance of 2.97 GW dc solar PV farm in NEOM region. The main objective to ensure every maintenance activity has been performed with recommended safety, quality & standard which eventually reduces the average down time of an equipment & enhance the performance & lifecycle of the asset.
NATURE & SCOPE
The main functions of this position are:
- Maintenance of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in compliance with OEM recommendations and approved schematics & SMPs.
- Ensure the recommended safety compliance has been considered during every maintenance.
- Actively participate in plant Commissioning activities & safety compliance workshops.
- Enthusiastic to propose the Continuous improvement suggestion to keep elevating & enabling the best plant O&M practices.
- Timely Escalation of system issue & information to relevant team or department as per communication matrix.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES
Quality Operation Practices:
- Be able to monitor, maintain & restore the generating stations i.e., Inverters within the minimum time frame by performing necessary, appropriate & correct troubleshooting methods in line with OEM recommendations.
- Adhere to optimum response time towards a corrective action notification raised by SCADA team.
- Maintain the maintenance quality (Corrective & Preventive) must be in line with OEM guidelines & best industrial practices.
- Responsible for Necessary operation, simulation checks & verification must be performed after every maintenance to ensure the equipment operational healthiness.
- Adhere to required Quality Housekeeping which will be followed by every preventive or corrective maintenance activity.
- Perform every Operation & Maintenance activity with approved Permit to Work (PTW) & associated PTWs (If required).
- Perform all Maintenance activity (Corrective & Preventive) as per procedure, schedule & resource mobilization plan to optimise the downtime of the equipment & perform quality maintenance.
- Perform the Predictive Maintenance & Conditioning Monitoring activities more closely & effectively to reduce the breakdown & unavailability event.
- Perform the shift handover with all information; data & records has been Passover to next shift with complete details & accuracy. No communication gap should evolve during shift handover (the shift logbook should contain all the information of the activities executed and pass over to next shift)
- He should be aware of isolation & de isolation procedures, LOTO procedure & required isolation points of every equipment.
- Ensure the contractor is delivering the required maintenance deliverable with quality as per scope of work under maintenance agreement.
- Respond on time for any emergency call outs requirements.
- Check & verify the quality maintenance work has been executed by subcontractor in-line with OEM recommendations & procedures.
- Ensures that required safety procedures are being followed by contractors during any maintenance activity.
- He is responsible to Provide necessary support to subcontractor team in timely manner whenever required.
- Provide time to time the Improvement suggestion to enhance the operation maintenance quality, feasibility, reliability, reducing equipment down time & unavailability.
- Calibration includes routine calibrate of instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability. This involves adjusting the instruments to match established standards and checking for any discrepancies.
- Basic understanding of electronic & pneumatic system. Good knowledge to work with a variety of instruments such as gauge, transmitter, transducers, indicators, recorders, and controllers.
Spare Part & Resource Management:
- Ensure that the spare part storage condition is met in accordance with OEM recommendations.
- Communicate the information of any consumable/ spare part which running out of stock to shift in charge in time.
Reporting Matrix & Documentation
- He is responsible for every maintenance (Preventive & corrective) the relevant documents records must be duly signed & updated in soft & hard copy.
- He is responsible for subcontractor service & test reports, third-party intervention reports must be duly signed & saved in soft & hard copy.
Tools & Equipment’s Inspections:
- Perform the tools & equipment are inspected regularly as per schedule regarding working condition, calibration, suitability etc.as per check list.
- Ensure that the Tool must be selected & utilised suitably as per maintenance activity.
Interdepartmental Communication & Coordination:
- Support & assist to other departments requirement in time. To make O&M practices more reliable & effective.
- Keep close & necessary Interaction with site operation & maintenance team to avoid communication gap & delay in equipment restoration.
HSSE:
- Ensure that every site activity is executed with approved procedures (SOPs), WMSRA, Risk Assessment (RA), check list (if needed) or any other supporting document if recommended.
- Ensure the O&M team & sub-contractors/ suppliers obtained PTW for each job and monitor them onsite for HSE compliances mitigations.
- Participate/ Assist to review/ revise the task risk assessment (TRA) time to time.
- Participate actively in emergency response plan as per approved ERP.
- Support in executing the emergency response drills.
- Assist when needed in the HSE incidents/ accident investigation.
- Ensures PTW’s for all activities are issued as per approved WMSRA/ PTW/LOTO system.
- Ensures the isolations/ deisolation and LOTO applications are applied as per SLD/ switching sequence.
- Ensures specific PPE (e.g.: insulated gloves, Cat2, or Cat4 suits, vizor/ safety shield or insulated tools, long knobs testing equipment/ hot sticks etc.) are available & properly worn/used for all electrical work activities.
SKILLS / TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AREAS:
- Professional in Microsoft Operating System (MS office).
- Mechanical or Electric/Electronic components fundamental knowledge.
- Hands On Experienced in Operation & maintenance of Power Plants preferable Solar Power Plants or renewable industry.
- Must be able to work on rotating shifts, call out, weekends and overtime (if required).
- Able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include extreme heat, humidity, dust and cold.
- Knowledge of Solar Inverters System, Relay & Control protection panels. Solar Tracking System & Substation Operation & Maintenance preferably HV/MV GIS substation.
- Awareness of Solar Plant Electrical Protection system.
- Advanced analytical, technical skills and knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment, as well as instrumentation & Electrical testing equipment.
- Deliverables on Time & Adaptability: - Be Enthusiastic & energetic to provide required deliverable within the time frame with quality standard.
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- A high school diploma or bachelor’s degree in electrical, Instrument or Electromechanical Engineering with 3 years of maintenance of a solar plant capacity greater & equal to 100MW.
- He must have a Sound knowledge on electrical system such as Power Transformers, Substation (GIS), Inverters, RMUs, PV- technology etc.
DESIRED EDUCATION and/or QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- A High school diploma or bachelor’s degree in electrical, instrument or Electromechanical Engineering with 6+ years of experience in maintenance of solar plant capacity greater & equal to 200MW.
